Out of interest, how far are you to completing the CloudDesk login system (backend)? I saw the login screen concept btw, looks good!

2 things:
1. Thanks for joining the group!
2. Have you thought of putting a php proxy on CloudDesk? - so that people can host apps on their own server, but the proxy will make them as if they were on your server, so they will be able to interact.

ntim007 In reply to DevilishDB [2013-11-23 20:53:01 +0000 UTC]
Well, maybe without a proxy would be safer, so people can avoid easily hacking clouddesk.

DevilishDB In reply to ntim007 [2013-11-25 16:46:28 +0000 UTC]
No, since if it uses proxy, you can have php which will run on the app's server, not CloudDesk. (same for any server-side code) Plus, without a proxy, the apps won't be able to use the cd APIs. A proxy will use the final output (i.e. html not php) - it can't magically find the php source. I can help you set up a proxy on your server if you want... Btw i was thinking of making a clouddesk app opener to go it the mac online app store, to open clouddesk apps using a proxy (like what I was describing) and importing the clouddesk scripts - would you mind if i did that? (i would give you/Taskin credit on the group page/mac online - I already added a credits section on the group page)

ntim007 In reply to DevilishDB [2013-11-25 20:26:21 +0000 UTC]
Well, external apps are not supposed to use the CD APIs, unless I implement some kind of permission UI.
I'm not sure why I would use a proxy since there's no other reason than using API on external sites
2nd thing : You mean be able to open CDs app from Mac Online ? Because, I didn't really understand this sentence : "a clouddesk app opener to go it the mac online app store".

DevilishDB In reply to ntim007 [2013-11-25 20:49:50 +0000 UTC]
2nd thing, yes, that's what i mean. Typo with "to go it", meant to be "to go on".

CloudDesk bug: apps aren't pinning with a right-click (browser default context-menu opens instead). Browser: Chromium (versionΒ 28.0.1500.71 Ubuntu 13.04)

Pinning has been removed. Tim decided that it was useless.

Oh, sorry, I misunderstood. Probably, yes, because soon there will be the ability to open multiple windows of the same app.

ntim007 In reply to DevilishDB [2013-09-14 17:57:20 +0000 UTC]
You liked that feature ? I can put it back if you want, but widgets do the same thing anyway. I'll even create a widget to pin apps if i have some time.
π: 0 β©: 1
DevilishDB In reply to ntim007 [2013-09-15 10:18:56 +0000 UTC]
Nah, that would just be pointless - it's almost the same as a having a normal window. I think the pinned apps thing was cool, just it needed a bit of polishing.

Hey I wonder if in the future you'll switch to Firefox too, like me.

Nope. I switched from Firefox to Chrome.

ntim007 In reply to DaKoder [2013-07-25 10:42:46 +0000 UTC]
Well, your choice
If you use chrome for speed, then Firefox can be as fast as with a few tweaks.
If you use chrome for it's look, then Firefox has themes.
If you use chrome for stability, then Firefox is much more stable (at least for me, chrome startup = computer freeze)
If you use chrome for memory, then Firefox takes much less memory than chrome
If you use chrome for HTML 5, then Firefox is about to catchup (Firefox team is much smarter, and implemented all the hard stuff first, Firefox simply needs to implement input[types] to beat chrome)
If you use chrome for addons, then well, you are simply dumb
Firefox won the June Web browser grand prix.
Don't worry, one day you'll switch back to Firefox or even IE.

DaKoder In reply to ntim007 [2013-07-25 15:20:50 +0000 UTC]
I switched because Firefox had too many features. All I needed was a simple browser that didn't have problem with code. Chrome is simple. Only tab bar and navigation bar. That's all I need.
π: 0 β©: 1
ntim007 In reply to DaKoder [2013-07-25 19:47:34 +0000 UTC]
If Firefox has too many features then Opera 12 - is probably a feature monster
I don't know how it's a problem, since you make firefox work exactly like chrome. Web developer tools are even better in Firefox.

I don't even use Chrome developer tools. To me, Chrome seems much more minimal. It sticks to the basics, but integrates advanced features.

"Chrome seems much more minimal" Chrome is becoming a whole OS, i mean Chrome Metro is now Chrome OS.Β :/ It's no longer the minimal browser you used to know

If you want a minimal browser, use Gnome Web (Epiphany).
