It's only been 9 months but I've loved the course so much, and it's done me so much good! It's ironed out a lot of bad habits I used to have and helped me with lots of different techniques (and dare I say perspective because I was a mess with that beforehand). I've also developed a good workflow? Before I used to try and finish things in one sitting and if I couldn't I'd just get frustrated with the piece and never go back to it, but now I treat each piece as a mini project and get them done in little milestones, or I'll sketch something and be able to come back to it much later on. It's been good for my drawing stamina all in all, and I've been like, perpetually inspired from the get go! I had a HUGE learning curve from about January to may, too ;v; I was all self-taught before and it's really good to help with filling the intuitive gaps of knowledge with proper lingo and some clarity. I'd recommend it to anyone who asked, honestly!  It's stressful at times, but I guess art's always gonna be like that no matter what, anyway ;v;  Go for it!

oh wow thanks so much for telling me about it, sounds like a lot of fun~ 
i'm 14 at the moment and i go visual arts in school but they dont give you as much freedom on what you want to do (only done sculpting so far and a little bit of drawing)
but i heard once you get to years 11 and 12 you get to choose more of what you do~

ah also, in concept art what job are you planning to get? like do most artists work with studios or something? 

 im sorry for asking so much about it!

No no, I'm glad to help! I would have killed for some advice when I was your age!

I did games development in college/sixth form (which was a broad subject), and my course now is still technically part of the computing/games department, but a lot more specialized. I Think it will vary from university to university, but a tiny bit of my course still involves 3D work.  In college though unfortunately there was way more emphasis on 3D with one concept class within that. (But it comes in handly now actually! We use  digital sculpting software, which artists are supposed to naturally be better at using bc it's like photoshop but 3D)

When I was 14/15 I did GCSE fine art in school, but it was soo restricted, and I hated it so much! We didn't get to choose the media we used, or the subject matter. We all had to do portraits with acrylic paint, which we TRACED onto the boards after taking a picture first! I hated it so much! I felt like I hadn't learned anything at all.  After that I was kind of put off of taking it as a subject further, but one of my friends did it in years 12/13 and she had fun, and apparently there was a lot more freedom to it. She's at university now too, actually  

For the developmental phases we're allowed to work however we want, and then the final piece generally has to be digital  My course is kind of on the fence in terms of career paths...We're kind of taught to behave like we're in industry but also taught about freelancing, too. In second year I'll be in a group project which is more industrial, I guess. Personally I think I'll probably start off freelancing and then move into the industry once I have a little more experience?? We're mostly being prepped for games, film or animation....Was any of that useful or did I just ramble at you?? Sorry about that!

though im not sure if universities around where i live take courses that are specialized in concept art and all that, i probably just need to get into that more. 
like do you go to a art specialized school?  

i'm still not sure where i want to be in the visual arts, but i definitely know that i want to get there! oh and thank god i have supportive parents! i really feel bad for people who don't though

I don't think my  Uni is art specialized per se....But it's probably got the most options for courses like that to take in England at least..I looked around a lot of places and they had 1 or 2 game/vfx/2D and 3D animation related courses or fine art, but never specifically concept art ;v; Actually this is the first year this course has existed, too! So I'm pretty lucky I came just in time.

I didn't really have a clue where I wanted to go until I was about 17...I ended up doing games in college thanks to my sister, actually ;v;  My mum likes art, but she had to see my stuff to believe I was capable. I feel sorry for them too :/ I don't see how people can look down on art when it's literally everywhere! You've still got quite a bit of time, so my advice would just be to take it slow for now and see how you feel about it all. And make sure you're absorbing as much information as you possibly can!  I went to college thinking I'd give it a try and I ended up falling in love with art even more because of it. I think in higher education they generally make sure you know what all your options are future wise, at least in my case.

ahh i see~ you are pretty lucky!  

yeah in year 10 is when they teach you all the options and get more into all the universities there areee (thats next year for me!) 
thankfully my school has ATARs for the visual arts~

I ended up in a University on the other side of the country, I won't lie. I'm not entirely sure how Australian university works, but If you can afford it you should go wherever your art takes you, too  I think you'll do great~ c:

It's funny...Your style kind of reminded me of tokyo ghoul actually! It's...almost watercolour-y, but bold at the same time! Kinda reminds me of sugar watercolour?   so pretty!

I am so behind on Tokyo ghoul :S All I  know is the art is super pretty and wild things are happening in the fandom. Meanwhile I've only cleared season 1 of the anime. Do you read the manga? Thinking of doing that instead of watching season 2...

Season 2 is so different from the original [thanks to that anime studio who doesn't follow what ishida said to them -_-] and you should totally read the manga! But you could too watch season 2 and cry at the last episode and can also cry on the manga too XD

I heard and thats why I kinda stopped and lost momentum? A lot of people on tumblr didn't like that :/ Then I tried to catch up with the manga but realised just how different it was so I thought I'd have to go and start it again properly some other time ;3;  But if you think I should watch season 2 anyway, I can do that too! I thought it was really pretty (kaneki's finger click thing STRESSES ME OUT though)

Ugh I feel you! I was in the Naruto fandom till it ended (bleh) and a lot of friends I made along the way disappeared and stuff ;n; Not that I can blame them

And the fact that theres so many missing in season 2 makes me look like a nerve because I have this habit to compare the manga and the anime too much. [ lmao, i try to don't do the finger popping of his but i just crave to do it, but i shouldn't cause it would make my bones in my fingers be big ._.]

haha i stopped watching naruto on season 2 cause, when I was a kid, i just watch anime on an old television and just support it on that and then i got lost on various of episodes showing and i can't keep up anymore. we are the same ._.

No, no, yeah, I love it when the anime does the manga justice! Though in some cases it's nice when the anime is different...I don't think tokyo ghoul is one of those, though :v  
I think I just about pop every other bone in my body from cringing when he does it XD Will probably be much easier to stomach reading that instead lmao

And when you say-- i mean typed that sometimes its nice when the anime is different i thought about those otome games that turned into an anime ._. like Diabolik Lovers/Uta-Pri/Amnesia/Brothers Conflict. Lmao, i remember trying to pop my bones cause its fun then I forced one finger that i can't pop and the result is a sore, aching finger which is painful to move around with it. and I just cringed at the part where he took out the centipede [if that is a centipede, i just know that it is a chinese thing or something] out of his ear then ate him.

Infact in the manga, I totalle cringed at the [SPOILER] : the part that in fact, Kaneki was raped by Jason

lmao, i don't know how naruto ended but it gave me the curious vibes ._. Also I think theres a new manga about Naruto who is now grown into a REAL MAN   INFACT IM NOT EVEN TALKING ABOUT JOHN CENA  but many people liked Naruto though, the character development on the plot is really good.

It's only like, 3 in the afternoon here! I haven't seen any otome animes yet I don't think...? But a lot of those have already been recommended to me, actually ;3; Which out of those is your favourite? Ouuuuuchhhhh....I feel so bad for your finger.  Yeah it was a centipede! Bleh...I think sometimes anime's can make that kind of thing even more traumatic when coupled along with the voice acting and stuff...But then mangas can be more graphic about it I guess. ishida's art is really beautiful.

Holy shit, I didn't know that :/ (but I don't mind the spoiler) If I hated Jason before, well now...Ugh

There IS a new manga! But it revolves mainly around his son(who I don't like >.> .....although I can't help but like Sasuke's daughter, even though the ship she was born from is dumb) Don't get me wrong! I think I'm still so annoyed BECAUSE I loved it! And I just think overall it kinda deserved better in the end orz  The character development was amazing back in the day, but it got really sloppy and lazy towards the end. And by the final 2 chapters it was like Kishimoto didn't care at all anymore ;n; It
