(Well, the thing with Electric types is that it does have a lack of resistance and Ampharos is a strange case where it does not have resistance to common STAB, but yet it does have a considerable amount of SP defense, great SP. Atk However, a lack of speed does kind of keep it tough to use in higher tiers. Trust me, I know how that feels, Luxray being one of my favorites is basically the physical equivalent to that situation. But fortunately for Ampharos, it does get agility which can work as a crutch and might be somewhat viable for set-ups. I never seen anybody use cotton guard set-ups which with EV training into HP, it might be able to work well as a Bulky attacker/T-wave user, but the typing is what makes it such a drawback compared to others)

I`ve tried using Agility on mine before, but it is a little difficult to set up safely. I`ve tried using it in combination with a Focus Sash, but I realized that it`s nearly pointless due to Stealth Rocks, Spikes, and weather. Idk, I`ll maybe try a Life Orb/ Agility set or something, and see how it goes.

Focus sash is pretty good with leads, or a revenge killer/set up as long as you have a spinner, but yeah. It's mainly comes from being an electric type with not much speed. It doesn't work well for revenge killing nor does it do well for safe set ups due to typing. It's at the point where I would use something like Jolteon instead for the higher tiers. One of my favorites for Revenge killing is Manetric :3
-Choice scarf
-Switcharoo
-Thunderbolt or VoltSwitch
-Overheat
-HP ice

Not to mention, even with the agility boost, it still can`t outspeed something like choice scarf Garchomp.

So yeah, I think something like that or Rotom would be better for the higher tiers.
