"stories" is how it's spelled, and I didn't say it didn't break "rules," I said they were perfectly fine. You just need to keep your nose out of other people's business. It was a dark and stormy night. The gloomy, never ending clouds and on and off raining created a depressing atmosphere that hung, thickly, in the air, inadvertently affecting everyone in the area.

From out of the storm laden distance, a shadow emerged. It moved slowly, as if in pain; in fact, anyone close enough might have suspected that it was a wounded person, but they couldn't be further from the truth. As the figure stepped closer to the light, one on-looker in particular had the horrifying privilege of catching site of the approaching creature.

Letting out a choked gasp, the bystander flattened himself against the brick wall behind him. The grotesque creature slowed down and stopped, only a few feet away from the terrified man. The monster looked down at the shivering man with eyeless sockets, yet the man felt it's gaze upon him. A primitive instinct took over in the man and he froze just long enough to see the jaws of the beast begin to open, before he bolted to the side. Sprinting down the sidewalk, panting in the cold night, the man made the mistake of looking back over his shoulder. The creature was barreling towards him much faster than he could run.

On his assailant's face was an impossibly wide, sickening grin, and as it ran closer and closer toward him, he could see that it moved as if it had no spine. It's arms flailed back behind it and its back was bent at unimaginable angles! It's face, while certainly one that no person could ever purge from their mind, had a way of making it hard to focus. While the man could see the lack of sanity in the creature's eyes and it's bone-chilling grin, it was difficult to actually make out its features. The man gave up trying to figure out anything about this thing that was chasing him, and decided instead that he needed to choose a safe destination, and fast.

Turnign sharply into an alley, the man dashed to and fro till he came out of the alley path and burst into the well lit, busy road. He dodged and oncoming car and didn't look at the alley till he was safely across the street.

However, when he finally turned to face his attacker - now that he had witnesses and potential help - the creature was gone. Panic stricken, his eyes scoured the shadows, searching for this sadistic thing that wouldn't let him be, even going as far as to look up the walls and on top of the buildings nearby, but the creature was nowhere to be found.
