Astera is epic. If you opened the dictionary to 'epic' a picture of Astera would be right next to the definition.

My fave alien is the furry crawler one with the peacock feathers. It looks so cool and seems to be the kind that can camouflage itself quite easily.

and despite the fact that I do art all the time... I am the dictionary definition of procrastination. I still haven't uploaded a bunch of pics from last semester and this semester... and they are on my computer right now :T ~lolz fail much~

You are so sweet. lol. I am quite a procrastinator myself. Hence the reason I haven't finished a story yet, or the fact I haven't gotten one solidly started since I started collage. However that will change this summer. My goal is to write the prologue of "Astera" telling about how she arrive at the planet she did and how she got adopted by the native race. Dont worry, you will get past your procrastination! it's really fun to chat with someone about this kind of stuff, thanks a bunch. If you ever want someone to blab with then I'm here! Ps. And it is a bit of a bummer that we never really got to talk in school while you were still there. I'm off to Bemidji in the fall now... starting college... oh boy am I excited X .x'

So... I'm attempting a manga (or I guess you call it graphic novel ) and I am running into so many brick walls that I am getting perma-migraines. The plot I have set up is set in stone for the most part... but I can't stay consistent with my characters. The main guy character was spose to be this kind of body building i-keel-chu kinda lookin guy, but I'm unsure if making him too muscle-y takes away from him. The setting is also a problem atm... I am fail at naming, too. But I think my sis can possibly help that since she can materialize a name out of nowhere.

...aaaaaaand I am completely unoriginal when it comes to designing hairstyles/outfits that make the characters look unique... so I'm currently riding the fail wagon. [link]

Well dont get yourself to much in a tither I ride the fail wagon to some days. But just focus on one thing at a time, dont force yourself. You know how hard it is to come up with an alien? Very difficult and then one day some designs came into mind. Just take it easy and maybe work on something else until you can re-focus. lol im so a.d.d with my stories I now work on 2 at the same time, cuz i know im going to get bored with one eventually, i might as well work on another. When it comes to names, I use a name book, or websites for baby names and I always search for meaning that describe my characters. Astera is a real name, which is awesome lol So is Vail and so many others But sometimes, When you are alone, just start spouting abunch of nonsense and random works till you get something, lol you might feel like an idiot, but sometimes you get some awesome results. When it comes to characters, you need to let the story influence their design and the way they turn out. the story and characters work hand in hand and you want to compliment the story with their design and attitude. Just make lots of sketches and character profiles before you decide to settle on something. It will help You will be fine. I hope this helped.

For me, coming up with weird alien species is easy... mostly cause I get kinda loopy when I don't get sleep... I wonder where those pics went... I was jus doodling aimlessly and I made somethin that was like a cross between a scorpion bird and like... a lion or somethin? Idk it was weird tho lolz, and my inspiration was my cats oddly enough.

cool yeah it's just hard trying to come up with an intelligent species that doesn't resemble one thing too much in particular. Random monster aliens are pretty easy. But even though, I dont want to pull an avatar move and make my aliens look too much like something that already exists. Ex. Like that horse alien... like seriously... its a horse... couldn't you be a little more original James Cameron lol sorry for the rant But anyways, glad I could help you with earlier. Good luck~
