haha no, your mom sent us an email! and my mom talked to her on the phone too she said you didn't get to finish your pieces? don't worry, that's very normal for senior levels...they just dont have the time. they can tell how good you are just from bits of your pieces.
however, that is really annoying to spend so long perfecting everything, and not getting the opportunity to show all of it!

haha that always happens! When you think you've done really well, the results are always below what you expected! and when you think you weren't as great, the results are always better!
when I went to do my exam, I was so worn out (in piano) since i had practiced so much for provincials that by the time that exams rolled around, i sorta didn't care too much anymore. I thought I had already practiced enough so I didn't practice too much the days before the exam...bad idea. I did okay (low 80's...so A minus?), but Brenda was a little upset. She was all like, "You could have been really close to a 90, but you didn't practice." and I was like.... so this year, practice, practice, practice!! You're so lucky that you dont have to practice ever again..

I've only played one extra song from last practice
its a song written by Yiruma, a famous Korean pianist, and it's also played in twilight (the twilight thing was just a mention, who cares if it was in twilight? tarnishes the rep of the song
)

AH!!!! it's River Flows in You, right?! I can play that song too!! IT's so gorgeous!
I'm performing this Saturday (25th) at two things (one for "Culture Days" an arts festival in Stratford, and that night, I'll be playing for old people at a nursing home...haha) and that song is included in the pieces I'll be playing!!
I'll for sure look out for good pieces to send to you!! any preferences? short pieces? long pieces? classical? things similar to river flows in you? cute pieces? I saw this guy on TV (εΏ«δΉε€§ζ¬θ₯ haha
it's my fave chinese show...
) playing the theme song from mario, and i was like, i want to play that too!!! so I went online and looked for the music, and there was a site totally dedicated to mario sheet music!!!
[link]
there's sheet music, and you can also hear the piece before you download (however, i feel this guy who plays it on the website plays with no feeling....not that you can feel too much with a mario theme song, but still! he sounds like a robot! haha) I want to learn this soon!!

i'll show it ta ya when i finish... maybe bring it back during the winter holidays or something

The playing piano for old people was moved to tonight. It went pretty well, I'm sure they were mostly hard of hearing anyway... haha actually, I had read your post earlier, and hadn't had the time to reply, but while I was playing River Flows, I thought about your comment on the dabbng salt on wounds...it made me laugh a little on the inside, and then feel kinda bad for the old people. my fingering messed up for a few bars while thinking about this
Ooooooooooooooo..I'm so excited to hear your song!!!! The Rise Ascending...makes me think of two things: massive chords going up the keyboard, and sixteenth note runs. Ah! YES!! Isn't Chopin amazing?!?!!? He's become my favourite composer (second favourite is Clementi, for his fast sonatinas and sonatas, not his slow pieces haha). I bought a complete set of Chopin music on CD by famous pianists this summer....soo good!!!
I've recently become a HUGe fan of Chopin's nocturnes. This year, I'm playing one called Nocturne in B flat Minor op.9 no.1....it's SOOO beautiful, and lyrical, and JUST SO gorgeous. google it!!
I'm going to buy a boook of chopin nocturnes and I'll scan some pages for you...there's also this Nocturne in E Flat Major (I think thats the key) that is also absolutely fantastic, that was my second choice.
We had lunch with Richard's family in London, Ontario today (they came to London for a party Saturday). Oh my god, Richard is getting so big!! He's about half a head or so shorter than Ryan!!! And he has this extra tooth coming in where his right front tooth is supposed to be...it's so cute!! (but it's kinda annoying for him, cuz he has to see a dentist for it...he may have to get it removed
) but he still follows me around everywhere
I can't imagine the day he grows up and doesn't follow me around anymore! :S haha

lol when my family was over at my house (24 ppl in ONE house... ours ) i was like playing that song and i was so nervous on the second part (the one with the trills going downwards?) i messed them up slightly... hehe and now after volleyball i feel like my thumb has somehow stuck into some strange position...and streaching it feels funny hehe...
haha actually i've written like a page, and suddenly inspiration goes PPOOOOOFF i have no idea why....if u want i'll show you when we go back for the winter holidays... and maybe i'll try out a new song hehe. lol i tried the massive chords and sixteenth notes... well.. all i can say was it was a interesting journey!
lol you could of asked me, I already have the complete Chopin music on iTunes hehe so much Chopin i was like *mouth hits floor* and then like... he WROTE all this music??? lol listened to Nocturne b-flat op.9 no.1
i like it i wanna listen to it when we get back lol
oh yes! i may have the music but no music sheet to play from!
ooo I havn't seen richard for so long haha is he still like.. chubby and pleading in the most adorable way? hehe lol i doubt he will ever stop following you... although the though is kinda creepy.. like you get a job and he's like still following you with some really cute problem lol

oh gosh...don't you just hate it when you perform for people you kknow and mess up?!?! In the middle of this past summer, Zhao Xin, and Du Mian (they live in Kitchener...I don't know if you still remember them? no kids, the husband went to the beach with us) came for dinner, and my parents had previously told them about me going to provincials and stuff and i guess they had high expectations or something. But by that time, a month had gone since I had actually practiced, so I had lost bits of my pieces. It was embarassing... and Zhao Xin told my parents, "That's too bad, you really should make her keep up."
Oh well, I'll show them next time!
haha don't worry about the piece you're writing, even though Chopin and all those composers wrote a load of stuff, they did that for a living, and did it everyday. and even then some pieces would take years. And you already have a whole set of Chopin music!? I had no idea you liked classical music that much!!
I'm really impressed!!! That's so cool!!
In research for my nocturne, i'm currently reading a biography on Chopin, parts are interesting. Like the fact that Chopin wrote his first piece after only a few months of lessons!
some people are just like that apparently!!
Yep, I'll definatley hook you up with some chopin sheet music!!
And yes, richard is still the same...just a little taller and skinnier actually haha when I read what you had written above about him, i pictured him following me to university and work...hhahahaha kinda like a very loyal pet! hahaha
so what's up? )

derekyu In reply to gq86 [2010-11-04 03:39:10 +0000 UTC]
lol yup stuff like that (messing up infront of people you know) is definitely not the best thing lol yup
haha can't be intimidated by Chopin! that guy had a century or more to do his stuff! plus he didn't have a computer (im not sure if that's a advantage to me or to him... :/) heh you have to do research on nocturne? oddddddd
so watsup over there?
π: 0 β©: 1
gq86 In reply to derekyu [2010-11-11 02:32:30 +0000 UTC]
haha yup, brenda wants me to get to know a bit about his life in order to feel his music better...there are some pretty good analysis reports on most of his nocturnes! but my nocturne is giving me a huge metaphorical headache at the moment. there are two parts in the piece where the right hand has 11 notes and the left hand has 6
so confusing and impossible to count...like, at first (logically), i thought it would be for every 2 notes in the right hand, there is 1 in the left, and then at the end there is 1 note in the right and and one in the left...but apparently, it's irregular so it has to sound very random....in a very precise/organised way. it's such an oxymoron..
anyway, harry potter 7 part 1 is coming out in a week in north america , is it the same for china? excited? I'm so pumped!!!!!!!

derekyu In reply to gq86 [2010-03-02 07:31:00 +0000 UTC]
haha no, the one world essay is a type of essay that is suppose to be able to allow students to see the 'big picture'. Something not many people love to look at. But oh well. Since its IB, we have to always go 'overthetop' for things. Can't just list facts and stuff... oh no. lol who's over for dinner, and is it in your room?
