Time for another random MST3K observation....
Rewatching some of the older episodes, I noticed a joke or two about 'A wuzzle named peanut.' Obviously, this was a reference to the puppet of vantriliuest Jeff Dunham. The thing is....The Joel-era of MST3K was years before Juff Dunham made it big on tv and YouTube! I mean in the early 90s, I fairly sure I remember seeing Jeff Dunham at a school gym during some summer program. That hardly makes him a big-time pop-culture reference....
So, basilly, it makes you wonder. Was Jeff big in Minnesota back then? Or were those references just an in-Joke between Joel and other stand-up comics and puppetteers.?

Hmm..I noticed that too! Back in his comedian days, Joel probably bumped into Dunham a few times or maybe shared billing with him. I think back then Jeff Dunham was on Johnny Carson a couple times and maybe had a stand-up special featured on HBO or what was then called the Comedy Channel, but was still relatively obscure. Either he was big in Minnesota way before the rest of the country, or maybe it was an in-joke where Joel and the MST3K crew knew they were mocking Dunham while the audience would think "Ha ha, he's making fun of ventriloquists".

Is anyone willing to take commission? There's a new Argentinian dinosaur named Atsinganosaurus. The name translates to "Gypsy lizard." Even better, it's a Titanosaur, one of the long necked sort of dinosaurs...does everyone see where I'm going with this?

Finaly I found a MST3K Group! I loved the show as a kid (though I didn't understand most of the jokes at such an age) and now I can't stop watching. I made some MST3K fsjals to comemorate.

Oh you can easily find the series on DVD! Boxsets 1-12 were released by Rhino Home Video while 13 onwards were released by Shout! Factory. Just type in "mst3k" into the search bar on either Amazon.com or barnesandnoble.com
