I am asking because you don't like bases and I am happy that I managed to draw this entirely free hand on my sketchpad by looking at bases as reference for the body type of Monster High characters. I know that is probably no better than having drawn over a base on sai or something, but I did draw it entirely on my own instead of copy and pasting someone's work on the base and doodling over it, actually putting in the effort to draw the character from scratch, so I thought you might approve of that more.

Actually I really like it. I made a post about it long ago on my blog (though it may be down now thanks to the hacker) about the only right way to use a base. Using a pose as a reference, be it an actual person or a base is just fine because you are still having to draw the picture yourself. Doodling over a paper doll doesn't teach you anything, but using a base as a reference rather than a paper doll does.
As for the picture, I think it's very nice. The bottom of the tunic looks a bit like it's dry rotted a bit because the wrinkles look more like crinkles and seen pretty unnatural. I suggest looking at clothing tutorials as there are some to be found on here. Other than that I think it's very nice. Keep up the good work.

Since I don't own a Tumblr account at all to post a question on your blog, I was wondering if I could ask your opinion on here about the Spectra doll.
She's my fave MH character and I plan on buying her soon to kick off my own MH doll collection.
Is there anything about the doll you don't like?? Sorry if this sounds like an odd question, but I'm just curious

Actually, aside from thinking she looks too old to be a student (mainly because of her strong cheek bones) she's one of the best made dolls you can get.
