Ah you're so kind.  My tips would be do it for the love of cosplay, the series, the character.  Practice your sewing/wig/prop/makeup skills to improve and you'll do great.  But, I personally think the love for the hobby and series is pretty important, more than "fame" ^_^

Yeah things can get pretty ridiculous when people start to get *too* competitive and it becomes all about winning and getting fans. As long as I've cosplayed and as many costumes as I've done, I've never once competed XD I always preferred to just hang out and meet people. I've done one walk-on and one skit, I believe. Out masquerades at our cons generally have walk-ons, skits, then some sort of judging process for the costumes. I imagine it is roughly the same format in Australia?

I'm waiting (soooo patiently) for another wave of photos from a photographer. I've done all the photo shoot work but now it's proving tougher to get the photos from the photographer who is sooo busy!! X(

by the way I've been wondering >.> do you have an Australian accent??

Yeah competing is a whole different thing again XD But I'm with you, I like hanging out and meeting new people!!  But yeah it's the same here, there's people who walk-on/walk-off, be it a bought or handmade costume, then there's skits and also people being judged for prizes on their costumes etc.  Same kind of thing ^_^

And yes, I do XDD  well apparently.  It's very obvious in the AnE skit I did with my friends in Vancouver (though some think I sound Irish?? XD), but in my video on my Page I don't think it's as obvious ^__^  I'll link them and you can listen for yourself! XD

OMG ADORABLE X___X! I actually do detect the accent! awwwwwhh *~* adorbz ... the skit is awesome...wow 40,000+ views! And that's saying a lot cuz I've seen some good ones but oh my god that's in a league of its own. One of my favorite things about Deviantart is meeting people from OTHER COUNTRIES who cosplay. In the Unites States, we tend to think the US is the only country in the world...it's kind of a sad reality but that is how the US is. Being on Deviantart I meet people from UK, Australia and Finland...for some reason those are the top 3 countries I meet other cosplayers. I love it so much because it shows me there are great cosplay communities around the world...and honestly I feel like the cosplayers I meet in Australia and UK are a lot "nicer" than the US ones because you guys do it for fun. In the US cosplay has become a popularity contest and there is a lot of bad energy and elitism with it. I don't get involved with that part of it AT ALL...yuck.

Yeah, the group channel that skit is on is pretty popular - they're an amazing group.  I miss them though, they're my friends from Canada.

Oh wow, I'm so happy you like my Seth! She's the costume I'm proudest of.  I mean, I don't think it's the best and there's lots I wish I could improve, but I put the most time and effort, blood/sweat/tears into her haha.  So I really appreciate your kinds words!!

Yeessss, I love that.  And it's easy with FB too - a lot easier to access for people.  But not all of them are cosplayers or photographers themselves.  But I absolutely love it - I have friends in so many different countries (unfortunately most of them I haven't actually met in person yet as I can't afford to travel there haha).  But it's an amazing hobby, the people are always so wonderful!!

I actually only know a handful of cosplayers from the States, but the ones I know are quite nice ^__^

I'd love to go to a con in the States but I have to put it off because I don't have the funds just yet.  But yes I'd like to go to Anime Expo, or maybe Aki-Con.

The flight is about 15 hours, to Vancouver anyway.  I'm not sure about to the States.

You should do a US con sometime. I would have to fly about 6 hours west to get to Anime Expo because I am farther towards the East side of the US. Most of the cons I go to are out here but I am going to try to venture out farther before long. Eventually I hope to go to conventions in Canada, Japan, Europe maybe. Or Australia XD

Yeah I find it easier to update the Page.  I only like to update here with completed/finished works.  So all my progress/ramblings/irregular updates go on my Page.  I also find it easier to connect with the people who follow me on there.    I'm glad it brightens your day though XD

I wasn't going to do Homu for smash! I was going to do her for animania xD What i meant is that it shifted cosplay schedule. So everything has been moved to the con after to make space for another cosplay. (does that make sense? no?) I dont know what to do.... IDEAS ARE MUCH APPRECIATED
