Welcome on dA!

There is no secret to become a good photographer : practice and practice, follow the basic rules of composition at the beginning (rule of third is a good example) and control the light. Your camera is a good one, I suggest you to use it with the aperture mode active. This way, you will control the depth of field.

I do all my photography with most (if not all... I tend to leave out White Balance) of the settings on Manual, so I do control the Shutter and Apertures.
