my 13 year old desktop finally died ..along w/ all my drawings and pictures and stories and everything!! D; and now im stuck using my sister's craptop.. i mean, laptop lol i got paint tool sai on it but im so used to gimp and too lazy to relearn a whole new set of tools and whatnot ... gimp fails at making smooth lineart and i cant figure out how to make pictures transparent in sai so that i can color them which means i gotta keep switching back and forth between them so its a pain in the neck to get drawings done but yeahh ..ill probably make a new account sometime soon and move over there so people can see my new art instead of the old stuff i have on here xD

oh man! i know how that is DX I've lost so much of my work before it's just ridiculous. And haha that poor craptop

Paint Tool SAI is about all I use, though i started out making stuff on GIMP yeah..it does fail at smooth lineart. xD and making pictures transparent in SAI? Well what I usually do if I have a sketch or whatever that's just white/black is go ahead to the "Layer" area on the top and there should be an option that says "Desaturate" or "Layer to transparency" (in changes in different versions..cause I have a pirated vers. haha), and that enables you to make a new layer and color under it Hope it helps you out.

and yup, this is all precisely the reason I made a new account on the other one I linked you; I just wanted to start fresh after DIEING on this account for like..months XD haha sometimes the motivation to draw is there and other times i have to beg to have it

ooh, ill go try that now o: and yeah, i figured out how to get the full version of sai for free but im not sure if i have all the tools or w/e xD; i figured desaturate was like in gimp, where it only made rainbowy colors turn to black and white so i hadnt tried that. i think i figured that if i open the black lines with a white background, add a clean new layer and place it underneath, then set the layer with the lineart to multiply from the blend mode drop down menu, then itll show the colors of the layers below ..but i havent tried saving it that way to see if it really works. thats what ima do now xD if not, ill try what you said or keep playing around til i find something else that seems to work
