I still think Brightest Day is so loopy that we don't know where Johns will go with death til it's over. He said in BD 6 'despite what some have said, dead is not dead' - we can hope!
The fact that Johns would orchestrate this stuff about death is interesting given his personal history - google him and read his wiki entry if you don't know...

I know, Courtney Whitmore was based off his dead sister.
And I think in terms of "dead is not dead" they might be referring to the Black Lanterns coming back.

Yeah or maybe there's something more to the black lanterns. I've been reading the green lantern dc boards and they're tearing their hair out trying to figure out what Johns is up to on a big scale.

I wonder if they're trying to make these big convoluted cosmic stories to force people to buy more books. You have to buy 20 titles to get the 'big picture.'

I used to buy 40-50 books from DC. Then Rise of Arsenal started. By #4 I dropped all of them, well, actually, after #4 I dropped the 38 I had still been buying. I now only buy the ones colored by Nei Ruffino, and Brave and the Bold and Legion because they are so good and need the most help.

I hear you. I used to collect Marvel and DC for a good 15 years but when quality dropped in the 90s, I stopped buying everything. Only recently came back w Blackest Night, bought all the back issues, caught up on everything - and now find a lot of it is misguided and weird.

It started with me dropping all Titans, Green Arrow, and JLA-related books. Then the solicit for Titans #26 came out and I dropped all Brightest Day books.
The quality was better in the late 90s. DC had more original ideas out by then.

I feel that the late 90s to about 2003 were the last time DC was sort of the edge of getting somewhere. The last 7 years look like a total mess, due to editorial I think. A big problem. The Teen Titans quality is so low it's jaw-dropping. As for the older Titans, well, not exactly in good shape are they? I think it's all 'hot idea of the moment' - kill characters off, break them up, throw them together, see what happens.
