I don't mind them going after fetishes at all, fetishes are pretty gross, but them going after people who're just drawing things that they enjoy because it's a "dead" or "sucked dry" topic is good enough of a reason for me to block them. I'm honestly getting so sick of people being assholes for no reason that I'm not going to tolerate it anymore. Kudos to them for pointing it out to fetish artists that they're being sickos, but even my own dreams are starting to highlight every single small issue that I have that honestly, for the sake of my own sanity, I'm just going to cut the people causing the problems out of my life as much as possible.

Those are pretty reasonable rules.
I don't mind people drawing what they want to draw or making their characters a specific way or anything like that at all, but I've come to the point where if it's something I don't want to see or hear about again, I'm just going to cut it out from my life. That might be a cowardly way of dealing with things, but I'm at the point where I don't care anymore, I just don't want to have too horrible of a mental health before I'm even an adult.
Change does come, and it does come slowly, but that doesn't mean people have to go out of their way to make it come even slower. I believe the person said something like, "I know I don't have to say these rude things, but it's going to happen anyways." I don't remember exactly what, but it made me facepalm. I remember that much.
My birthstone is a Diamond. Yet in some other cultures it's a Pearl. I'm so confused. Am I the lowest or the highest in Homeworld gem hierarchy?

Yeah its annoying but change is slow. It's like "I know i'm being an asshole but it's hard to stop." I feel bad but it's a really hard habit to break. Once you've been used to being a way a while it's really hard to just stop.
I mean Pearls serve the diamonds/high authority gems so you're either royalty special or servant special. As for me? Im a sapphire. Yaasss future vision. It also goes along with BA's 3rd eye.

I'm just a few months away from being old enough to legally get a job. I can't wait because money, but I also don't want to because I'll likely have to go into Retail and that's an awful branch of work.

That's an easy thing to do on the internet, but in real life it's not as easy and that happens to be where most of the problems are. If only there were "Block" and "Mute" buttons in real life, then I'd have a lot less issues with talking to people beyond screens and text.
Oh, don't I know that. I've developed the habit of chewing on my lips for a few years now, and it's a habit that's led to scarring in my mouth and bleeding. I've been trying to stop recently because I think it's the root for a lot of other health issues I have now, but it's a change that'll certainly take a lot of time.
And a lot of chewing gum to help distract myself from it.
Yeah, Pearls do serve high-ranking gems, but they are marked as the lowest gem there. So I have a foot in being the royalty or in being the royalty's slave.
According to the Steven Universe: Art & Origins book I have, gem slavery is actually a thing (or at least, there's an item that forces gems into being slaves that was planned). Weird, seeing as gems seem to mostly just follow the rules and what they were made for.
Though Diamond and Pearl are my birthstones my gemsona is a Bloodstone. I might make a Pearl and a Diamond later to add to the Sona Squad, but for now I really like Bloodstone. She's probably the best gem character I developed appearance-wise.

It isn't so much as what they smell or look like, but their attitude. I don't know what position you're in in you work (if you're in stocking then you practically don't have to worry at all) but there's going to be at least one shitty customer during your time there.
My sister told me about this post she saw once. It said, "If everyone had a count-down above their heads that counted down to how much longer they could put up with everyone's shit before hitting someone, what would your counter be at?" Apparently mine's at Infinite because I've never gotten angry to hurt anyone (that I remember. Apparently I can get so angry that I'll enter a rage and then not remember it happening at all. No memory of what caused it, none of what I did and/or said, nothing about that day even really happening. Kinda spooky..)

Concrete isn't even a normal rock though? It's completely man-made. And it would be more of a grey color instead of black. It kind of seems like someone edited the picture because I have a copy of Art & Origins (which I'm going to guess is where this is from) and I don't see her in there at all.
Also why would a gem have a shoe collection? They're GEMS. (Also I just looked through the book, there's no one with that exact penmanship.) (Also it looks like Concrete there is a fusion, having three gems and all.)
I have a gem character that literally doesn't have a mouth. I'm pretty sure that counts as off-color. She communicates in ASL (ASL, because that's the only sign language I know even a little bit of, and I had to quit learning because my eye issues made it impossible to catch what was going on. Damn dry eye syndrome.)
I don't really get to draw any of my gem characters a lot though because I'm still practicing human anatomy using anthropomorphic creatures (for stuff like legs, hands, and arms. Especially hands. My hand drawings suck at being hand drawings.)

It is hard to be patient, and even more-so seeing as self-control isn't an unlimited resource, but I've managed to get through life without killing anyone. That's a good thing.
Well there's a difference between OCs and cannon characters (and like I think I said, I already forgot if I did or not , the Crewniverse themselves aren't keeping up with it being only gem Gems. Bismuth is a metal, after all. So if both metal and gems are close enough for being Gems, then you could easily say that Blue Goldstone is in a metallic glass form and end any discussion there.
But because it's all fictional it really doesn't matter. Blue Goldstone sounds really pretty though.
I got my copy for Christmas from my step-mom, so it's likely a re-release.
I got at least a little knowledge from it. And I have the internet to help me if I ever want to learn more (I'll have to be specific and tell Google "ASL" so I don't get it confused with thinking I want to learn "SEE."
My art-style is a mixture of realistic and cartoon. I have cartoony like lines, coloring, face expressions, and detailing, but the anatomy is in a realistic style. Kind of like Steven Universe, in a sense, where I use accurate anatomy for what-ever I'm drawing (give those ungulates the creepy rectangular pupils, for example) but it's still clearly not a realistic art style. Anatomy on complex things, like the joints of legs or the fingers on our hands or getting the correct proportions on facial features is where I need to put in the most practice right now, but I can safely say that I'm able to draw the head of a person and not be ashamed of it.
The art teacher I had during 8-9th grade had a very specific view on art. She said that the goal of every artist is to achieve a perfect realistic art-style, and while she never directly said it, it was easy to tell that she believed art only held value in it's physical appeal, not in what may be held sentimentally.
And there's my ceramics teacher right now who's like, "Don't be too specific you're literally only just now getting started. Draw how you want! Shape the clay into what-ever you'd like, so long as it follows the criteria of the assignment!"

I like to think that my art style can allow the same expression (I.E., it's totally in my style to have someone's eyebrows go off above their head if they're really shocked) but I can't deny that I've still got some ground-rules for myself. Honestly, having a few rules can help with the fun though. If you play a video game that gives you no limitations what-so-ever, well, that game would get pretty boring. Even Garry's Mod has the rules of basic physics *proceeds to fling myself into the air using a cup.* Realistic. (I meant gravity and collision but I had to point out the issue in saying basic physics.)

But yeah, my old teacher truly was very strict, saying that it was the goal of every true artist to achieve a realistic art style. And now my ceramics teacher is literally making it an assignment to make the most disproportionate face out of Sculpy that we possibly can. He was also playing the Guardians of the Galaxy soundtrack on the first day of class.
Also I decided to get back into Ovipets and try to get enough credits to revive the 5,000+ pets of mine that died.

I don't know much about publishing books but I think it isn't as easy as that. Or maybe I'm just really bad at understanding all of the directions when I looked up how publishing books works. Or maybe both.
I personally don't think the show is dying. Are people losing interest? Yeah, of course, and I can see plenty of reasons why. Like how the show has become almost entirely plot-heavy with few comic reliefs. But following how the show's been going, it was going to happen eventually (switching from mostly humor to mostly plot, I mean.) And honestly, I'm ready for it. They've spent about 4 seasons building up to a finale that wraps things up, and I'm eager to see where they go from here. Another reason people are starting to dislike the show is because it's focusing too much on a specific character, with the main complaint being Steven and Connie. I ship them so that's probably my strongest reason for not being bothered by it, but I can safely say it isn't just a girl's young shipper heart driving her to continue loving this show. One thing I've seen SU do over and over again is focus more deeply on the relationships between specific characters, like how the wrestling episodes were about Steven and Amethyst, or how the episode where Pearl tries to teach Steven sword fighting (Steven the Sword Fighter, I think the episode was called, but don't quote me on that 'cause I'm not 100% sure) and gets poofed in the process shows just how much Steven cares about Pearl and how he acts when she's not around for very long. These plot arcs didn't last as long as the one between Steven and Connie, sure, but I think that just foreshadows that those two are going to end up being very important to the plot and the writers are trying to show the audience that. And like with the Pearl example, it shows the audience how much Steven really cares. I just see the show go along with a, "Build up a foundation and launch from it" type of pattern, but seeing how many people are starting to lose interest, I guess not a lot of people do.
The only problem I have with the show (that's also a problem a lot of people have) is that it goes on hiatus EVERY. FIVE. FUCKING. EPISODES.
I can't lie, the inconsistency's enough to make me just a tad annoyed with the Crewniverse, even if I now know what the process for making an episode is.
But I can't help but stick with the show because it's helped me through a lot of bad times. I was practically at the worst point in my mental health when I first ran in to it (watching it behind my sister's back is how I found the show) (she was in one of the future episodes so I had no clue what was going on but she noticed I was watching and offered me to join) and it's been something for me to look forward to, something to keep me going. Because I don't really have a strong emotional capacity, the fact I've managed to get so attached to this show is like finding a unicorn. So in a bleak life, I have Steven Universe to make me feel something.

I do love plot heavy content but it's just so... Boring?? They've scrapped a LOT of room for development - Lars being an angry/sad mess bcs he started to realise how he'd hurt Sadie and began to realise that he's got a lot of weight on his shoulders to a suddenly cocky pilot to ignoring all problems when there's flashing lights/sirens/ect on his ship. I just hate that???
Most of the other episodes are buffer ones, and even if the episodes add new characters, they water them down overtime - IE Peridot. Peridot used to be a strong authoritative figure, she would use violence to get what she wanted, and yet in the latest episode, she just watched Lapis take their barn and leave. I hate the sudden flip in characters, it's bad writing.
Don't get me started on the lack of character size consistency. "Everyone has their own style/headcanons!!!" No Sugar, it's unprofessional.
I agree, the huge hiatus is also pushing me away. They make 5 eps and then vanish for 1/2 a year or more.

Knowing CN's attitude towards the show, I can't say I'd be all that surprised if they did.
You're forgetting that Lars is a teenager with some noticeable mental issues (though it's never mentioned, it does seem like Lars might have some depression.) As a teenager myself, I can safely say that I think a good chunk of the students at the school I go to would also be like that. And if it's one thing I know about people who have some form of mental confliction, it's that mood swings and acts like Lars being Moody and Whiny teenager to Cocky and sure-of-himself are typically common. I can't lie, I've also been like that before. Being the most quiet and shy person to suddenly being in REALLY hyper and hands-on with everything for at least a few moments.
Peridot's change in character happened over the course of the show, though. When she was a Homeworld Gem (in allegiance, not in origin) she was particularly violent because that's how Homeworld gems are (I.E., Jasper, and Jasper. Oh, did I mention Jasper? Jasper's pretty violent.) But when Peridot became used to the standards and customs of Gems on Earth (which is basically "Be nice and beat up the monsters and homeworld gems) she lost some of that violence. But not entirely, either. Yes, we've seen her lose her violence towards humans, the Crystal Gems, Lapis, and Pumpkin, but towards other things, like monsters, she hasn't really lost her temper. She may not appear as violent, but she doesn't have her Limb Enhancers to give her advantage in battle. Now she has only her fairly weak metal powers and whatever.. "muscle" she has (honestly she's a green noodle she doesn't have any) which she generally tries to avoid using because she's smart enough to know that she wouldn't be able to win most battles with only that on her side (this is assuming she's alone. In a group, I image she's a lot more mouthy, but we haven't seen a lot of that yet.) In the case of Lapis taking the barn away and Peridot not doing anything to stop her, it was because Peridot cared about Lapis too much to try. Like I stated earlier, Peridot only seems to be violent towards the things she doesn't like, but with all of the time Peridot and Lapis spent together I find it hard to believe that Peridot hasn't grown at least a little attached to Lapis and her well-being. That being said, Peridot wouldn't want to try to stop Lapis with violence because she doesn't want to hurt her. Peridot was only physically violent with the Crystal Gems when she wasn't bound by a peace treaty to them and beyond that because she grew to care about them and didn't want to hurt them (let's ignore the fact she decided to push Greg off of a roof though, that was just her experimenting with Earth creatures and their abilities. And possibly a murder attempt. Who knows.)
TL;DR: Peridot's grown soft towards the people she cares about, but to strangers, she's still violent (like how she tried to blast Andy with her robots.)
Yeah the height differences is something I've noticed too, but it never bugged me and I don't see it happen a lot. In "Buddy's Book" I remember that Connie was as short as Steven even though they pretty much confirm that she's supposed to be taller than Steven in "Steven's Birthday" ("It's funny that I have to look up at you now, though." -Connie, to Steven) but that didn't even really annoy me too much because I was too busy thinking "Oh she looks kind of adorable being like 4 feet tall."
I've seen some people say that the models of the characters are being morphed so much that they can't even recognize the character, but honestly? The differences aren't THAT bad? I can still point out who Sadie is regardless of whether or not you use the model from S1 or S5, and I can safely say the same for every character.
Given I know who the character is, anyways.
But on the topic of the new episodes being boring and such, that's purely opinionated. As is all of this, come to think of it, but I don't have much to say on the entertainment/interest quality of the newer episodes. What I can say, is that it's showing the domino effect of Steven and Lars being captured on the town and the people who know them, which adds a sense of realism and consequences to the show, and I personally like that type of stuff. Not a lot of shows display consequences in them, which could be why a lot of people act without thinking. But on the rest of it, the new episodes to me are as rewatchable as the ones before. If I'm bored and I happen to press on that episode when I randomly pick one to watch, I'd sit down for it.
My favorite episode's "Mindful Education" though. The song "Here Comes a Thought" is really relaxing, and I've used the advice in it to help me before. Do you have any particular favorites?
Like I said before, the only issue I'm having is the hiatuses. I understand that people need a break every now and then, and I have no problems or fights to pick because of it, but I started watching this show right at the beginning of S2, where there was a constant stream of 5 eps a week. Now we're lucky to get 5 episodes in half a year, it seems.
But for this show, I'm willing to wait.

But I can still see why it's bugging you, and now that I'm thinking on it, it does seem pretty sudden. But with the little time they have left on the show, they might be cutting corners so they can finish the story. I know they're only approved for 5 seasons, and we're in S5 right now. They could just be trying to wrap up the story because they're almost out of time (I already said that in different words I know I'm sorry I just like to ramble).

Okay on a more serious note. Peridots - I don't remember where I read this but I do recall reading it - have a negative reaction to earth's atmosphere or something like that, when exposed to it. A lot of people have been commenting on how Peridot is getting noticeable smaller every time she appears, going from being roughly the same size as Steven to being a little shorter than him. I like to think that this is intentional because of how peridot gemstones are supposed to act under exposure, and that it might actually be important later on. I mean it could also just be errors on the artists' part, but it doesn't kill to think about the possibilities. (And to also be ahead of the plot-twists for once eesh).
Granted SU is having a rough time with what a lot of people think about it (I.E., people accusing one of the show's artists for "Queer Baiting" because she posted a picture of Lapis and Peridot. I mean, seriously, what the hell???) but I still think it's worth it. I know I've said it before a lot but I'll stay it again. This show really has helped me in a lot of rough places in my life, and it still does. I wouldn't feel right turning my back on it because of characterization stuff being weird and abnormal from the usual of the show.
I never forgot about Andy, but he sure doesn't show up a lot for me to actively think of him. I saw someone write once that Andy is the typical Uncle stereotype character, but in my opinion (and it's probably an unpopular one, but I'm still willing to express it) is that a character isn't really a stereotype if there's an actual reason for them being that way. Does this Jock happen to be an idiot? Well, why? Is it because they feel that they're only good in the physical department and therefore stop trying the educational stuff and just become a dumb jock? That's character development, not being a plain stereotype. Or perhaps this girl is into looking good and being fashionable, which is a typical female character stereotype. Maybe she grew up with that type of stuff in her life so it was the first thing she could easily practice. Again, more development. While I can't think of any others right now, I'm sure I'll find some exceptions to this eventually. But for now, if there's actual background and/or character reason for someone to be that way, I don't think it's really a stereotype.

I remember way back, before I knew about the original Teen Titans, I sat down and watched a few episodes with my two step-siblings because it was on and there wasn't much else to do. There were 2 episodes I liked, so I when I went over to my grandma's house I put them on with DirectTV, and my biological sister happened to be there and said, "The original Teen Titans is better." So I went to go find the original, was successful, watched it, and realized that TTG's entire existence relies on making fun of the original, which had so much better character development, plots, villain, and in general was better.
And now I dislike TTG in favor of the original, but I always have to remember that once upon a time I did like TTG.

I've heard that theory too, but there were witnesses to her shattering. At least, there was Eyeball, so that must mean someone else was there too. I also remember a lot of people were saying that Lion was Pink Diamond or something like that, but I'm sure that this has been thoroughly debunked now. I don't really believe the theory myself, but if it happens to be true, hats off to the people who guessed it and lets see how it plays out in the show.
Yeah now that I think about it there were still shootings going on when Lars of the Stars and Jungle Moon were released. My memory sucks sometimes, this is just a fact.
I'm actually going to be joining one of the walkouts. I'm not very proud of how reclusive I've been while also saying that people should stand up for what's right, so I'm going to try and stand up myself for once. I've really been trying to change this year, so if I can get myself to join the walkout, I can see that it's working.
My dad described the shooters as cowards. They get a gun, and enter a place that is completely defenseless and full of children. They can cause the most hurt here and get the least of it back. They could mow down about 20 1st grade students and then shoot themselves. I know the saying, "If I'm going down, then I'm taking you down with me," but I could've sworn that referred to revenge, not being a spineless coward who wants to cause other people hurt because of some reason, like they were hurt and they couldn't stand it anymore. It shows you as weak if you only go after the weakest, and like my dad, I consider that cowardly.

I could've sworn Rose Quartz weren't a really vivid magenta either, but that's the color of Steven's gem. When it comes to the coloring, I've noticed that they take the gem color itself and then change the tint, shade, hue, whatever, of it to get the colors for the pallet. That, and they pick the colors based on their personality. Rose is peachy, I guess. (I misread my own text as "preachy" RIP). And it does seem that gems have a little bit of control over the colors they pick. For example, Garnet. She originally looked like she had a humanly black skin color (I say "humanly" because gems probably have the potential to be jet black), and yet nobody's complaining about that? I get that we're trying to treat the races fairly and all, but making white people dance on eggshells around not-white people is the exact opposite of that. Anyways I completely veered from my point and I'm sorry about that. The thing I was trying to say here, is that if a gem can change the color of their outfit, why couldn't they change the color of their hair? Eyes? Skin? Maybe Rose did used to have pink skin, but she saw a white person, thought that looked cool, and decided to reform with that color next.

I'm fully aware of that. I'm just saying that they're a bigger problem now because there was 19 within the first month of the year. Only the Florida shooting as really made the news, and that's because 17 people died in it, but there's been plenty of others all within January alone. I don't know how many others there's been since then. They're kind of starting to mix together.
The thing about banning the guns that not a lot of people know, is that the guns used in these shootings already are. People generally say that fully automatic and semi-automatic weapons are military grade and shouldn't be allowed to the public, but not a lot of people actually know the difference. A fully automatic weapon is one where you can hold down the trigger and it'll keep firing, reloading itself, do everything completely on its own until it's empty. A semi-automatic does basically the same things, but you have to keep pressing the trigger. If you press and hold down, it'll only fire once and that's that. You have to pull again to make it fire again. The people in these shootings are using fully automatic guns which have been banned for quite a while now. The problem here is that these guns are sold in secret. If you took about an hour and searched in the right place, you could get a fully automatic weapon within that hour. So even if a ban on guns were placed, those people can still get by with selling them illegally, and the problem wouldn't be fixed. Now you've removed the public's ability to protect itself because these bad people can still get their hands on a gun, and a good, law-abiding citizen is in danger from them.
And in the case of hunting, my dad is a hunter and he has confirmed that elk and deer are hard as shit to kill. It takes a few bullets to bring them down. If you're using a pump-action gun, then maybe you'll get it on time. If you're using a bolt-action, yeah, you're fucked. If you're using a semi-automatic, then that deer is as good as yours. Deer and elk can survive military grade weapons long enough to escape you, so for hunting, they're basically a must.
Unless we go back to hunting with spears in packs. That'd be one hell of a way to bring people together, huh?
For self-defense, a gun is certainly helpful. If a robber or killer comes into your home, a bird-shot wouldn't kill them, but it would certainly protect you and your things.
I mean, just look up what a bird-shot wound looks like. You wouldn't want to fuck with someone that has the power to give you that.
Arming teachers with guns can go wrong for a lot of obvious reasons, but consider this: If you're a shooter trying to find where you can give the most pain and then escape, a school is the obvious choice because there's no protection for the students there. BUT, if you hear that there are armed people in there who will nail your ass if you start a shooting, would you want to go there? No, you wouldn't. It would be like causing a shooting in a gun store. You know those people will pull on you as quickly as you pull on them, so it makes the person think and reconsider.
I'm not trying to say you're wrong or start an argument or anything, because I know that shootings and gun control is a tough subject for those types of things. I'm just trying to educate you more on guns and the situation here in the US. I personally don't know where I stand on it all, but I know that something's gotta change.

I like to think that SU was good in concept, and I love some of the designs. Others... Not so much. Tbh ? I don't think I'd care if the series dropped. The stories feel far too rushed and quick. Cluster was built to be this awesome superweapon. "Bubble each other and let's forget you." A diamond could skiddle, pop the bubble and run fast and be safe. But nah, they'll sit there, brooding about what to do next.
They could've done with a lot more time to actually flesh out stories, but with the limited stuff, everything feels too rushed and half finished.

Food for thought: I think it was Sweden where some guy tried to attack a school with a knife, and was defeated by people throwing their bag packs. No one died/was injured.
I mean the damage is done, no? Years of having guns makes them easy to access, and people don't wanna let up on that. Even resorting to criminals. Guns are definitely one of the worst things people have created.
Y'know I often think about more traditional hunting, it would sure as hell cut down on accidents. Fair enough, you could get caught in a trap, but if it's a snare, you aren't gonna die, unlike if someone puts a shotgun shell into your chest. Plus, like you said, it's more of a group activity. And ideally it should be done for survival, yes okay, have your bone trophies, but at least use the meat.
A simple baseball bat would suffice for home invasions, it's lightweight, won't jam and is slightly less likely to kill. And it's more effective at disarming, you have to get close to hit someone with a gun, but a smack to the hand/kneecap/face will stun, even if just for a second.
Okay with my next point, I'm not happy to go down to it, but hell I barely knew this existed. (I've learned this from Philip DeFranko)
One of the Paul brothers (don't care which specifically.) suggested that every student gets these mini shields that are pretty effective at stopping bullets. That an mental health needs to be hammered into people, teachers/schools need to address bullying in a more aggressive manor than "We can't do anything

And what's to stop a student snatching a teachers gun? What's to say that teachers are stable to have guns?
I get that Americans have had guns as one of their rights for... Well since the beginning and you're right, something definitely has to change. I sincerely hope those poor kids actually kickstart something more than US's pres trying to stop guns with more guns. To me, it just feels like stopping fire by pouring lava on it. Bear in mind, this is just my opinion.

Unless the site gets shut down, which I hope it doesn't. It's my favorite online streaming site. It has Miraculous Ladybug, Teen Titans, Steven Universe, Gravity Falls, Star vs. The Forces of Evil, Rick and Morty (though tbh I really stopped caring about R&M a long time ago), and lots of other shows I don't know about nor currently care to know about.
SU is certainly one of the most original concepts I've heard in a long time, and I've used it as a foundation for countless concepts and stories of my own. The most evident example would be the Timeline Buddies, the longest story I've ever had that I've been developing actively - daily - for about 4 years+ straight. It's so satisfying to look back on a story you've been putting a lot of love into over the years and seeing how it changed from point A to point B, to the point C or D that you're on right then. Because of the Timeline Buddies, I guess if SU dropped I'd still be interacting with it on a daily basis, but there's a difference between an insanely detailed fan story (kind of) and the real deal. I want to see how SU ends. I want to see the pay-off I've been waiting since the beginning of S2 for. I'm probably going to be sad when the show ends in the future, but if it ended right now I'd probably be quite distraught because this story, these characters, all of these concepts I've gotten attached to and even kind of grew up with, would never be resolved. It would just be over and there'd be no way of seeing how it's going to end. Only the fan endings and, let's face it, the fanbase has some... interesting.. people in it.
But because of their limited time and space to do these things, this show is going to suffer. And I can see that it already is because of the hiatuses alone. Call me crazy, but I think that people wouldn't care too much about the "filler" episodes if they actually updated on a regular basis and not 2 times a year.

My dad hunts purely for the meat and fun of it. He doesn't let the meat go to waste, unlike a lot of other hunters in the world. Hunting entirely for sport is wrong. At least do something useful with the body and meat instead of let that go to waste.
You know, I completely forgot about traps and snares. That shows just how much they aren't used anymore. People probably stopped using them because, like you said, people can get stuck in them.
I think getting shot by a fellow hunter is unlikely, since you have to wear Hunter/Construction Orange and have to pay attention to what's behind the prey. Like, this is the law and everything. But perhaps a trigger-happy hunter hearing their trap go off might forget those laws just long enough to accidentally become a murderer. Well, rip I guess.
Let's just go back to hunting with spears and bows. It sounds more fun that way. I'd be an archer, if my aiming skills weren't absolute shit.
Baseball bats, crowbars, a plank of wood even, could totally suffice for robber invasions. But if that robber happens to shoot you before you get to them, well, rip I guess. But if no one had a gun, then this robber would have a knife most likely. Or maybe a bow with some arrows, though I think you'd have to be very good at acting natural with a giant bow and a quiver full of arrows to pass with that being a normal thing as you sneak over to a house that doesn't belong to you.

Anyways, that robber would have to be good at aiming to hit you with that knife (or arrow, for continuity sake) to successfully call themselves a criminal.

But with how long guns have been freely available, there isn't a doubt in my mind that it would be almost impossible to convince this country to let them go. In my opinion, I don't see why we made them in the first place. I get that we used them for wars and to have the auto-win button available at any time, but I think we started going a little too far with automatic guns. And really, guns in general. Don't even get me started on bombs, especially nukes. Those are, 100%, one of the most unnecessary things ever. A few nukes is all it takes to destroy all of earth. We don't need over 100 to exist and be ready to fire at any time.

The school protocols over here basically say: "Leave the school in an orderly and calm fashion during danger or hide in the classrooms with all signs of life being gone from the room." So Sweden might have the backpacks of death available, but our way of handling dangers kind of disallows that. We aren't allowed (or supposed to, anyways) to bring books, backpacks, anything with us when we're evacuating. So if all guns were removed, then our own safety net would fuck us over in the end.
Those were my exact thoughts when I heard about the "teachers getting armed" solution. I just sat there thinking, "What if a kid steals one of them?" I brought that up to my dad, and he said that they could keep them in a locked up area. Then I asked, "What if the teacher forgets how to open it or isn't there?" I don't remember what he said after that, but the short of it is that it would present a lot more issues that would need fixing if it were to work.
As for a teacher not being stable for one, I think I remember something about a teacher not letting anyone in their class and threatening with a gun if anyone went in. This was after the arming teachers idea was proposed. I remember, because my dad sighed, "Well, so much for that idea."
So much for that idea indeed. It failed before it even started.

American schools as a whole just need to get some shit together. Mental health has slowly become the school's lowest priority (the 1 billion state standardized tests are all the proof you need of that), teachers get paid so little that they're starting to make jokes about their low salary and how poor they are and it's just making me sad, and my school district specifically has such strict internet rules that I'm surprised we aren't stuck with typing words picked for us in bubbles, with a list giving us all of the available sites we can go on. I can't even get my school Google account to be able to join a chat my friend made because it isn't a Google Classroom supported by our district. The schooling over here is terrible. I'm surprised I'm still even remotely sane, given that a good chunk of my life has been terrible.
And yeah, the school bullying stuff over here isn't too grand either. I've heard lots of stories about someone seeing a teacher witness a person getting bullied, and doing nothing to stop it when it was obviously a bully situation. But yet, a girl can very easily get some form of punishment for wearing something that exposes her shoulders, and if a guy wears an even more revealing outfit no one will care. Now that I'm thinking about it, I just really hate school over here.
But like you said, the people of the government likely won't care unless it's their kid specifically.
I joined in on a walk-out that was for getting something done to make schools safer. Honestly I don't feel very safe at a school anymore because of all of this mixing with my "just a little paranoid" personality.
I know I'm really flip-flop on what side I seem to be supporting, but I like playing Devil's Advocate and making people really think about their arguments. If you want me to cut that out, let me know.
