Whew.. that's actually a tricky question. I could go on for pages on that. But my method breaks down to making up a few characters, giving them a situation, and after a while, a big problem. Once that is in place, you just have to think logically about what's going to happen next. when is the goodguy going to do in that situation? What is the badguy doing at that time? When do they cross paths?

A point form outline of major events is needed for a bugger story, so you don't lose track, and so you always have a goal. It can be easy to write a long thing with no point, if you don't have an outline reminding you of big events that are supposed to happen.

But it's a matter of practice. Starting with a half page story is a first step. You can get the idea of flow, and hand it to people for feedback.. the trick is THEN to be ready to really LISTEN to the feedback. Friends and family will often just tell you your work is great, and they're being honest. It might be the best thing they've ever read... from you. You have to see out BAD feedback, and think about what in your story might be improved, based on what people say is wrong.

It can be a lot of work... my latest book took over a year to write and edit, and I'm sure it's not flawless. There are always flaws... you just have to try to get rid of as many as you can.

...... but don't forget to have fun. Hard work can be fun, if you look forward to the final story, filled with characters that you created, and love.

I did a search for you in DA's literature section for echo of souls... it gave me a bajillion stories with the word echo in the title, so I was more specific with quotation marks, "echo of souls" and it gave me nothing. Is this a story be a specific person, or are you looking for any story relating to it?

You might want to get help at the message forums, but if I remember correctly, you click 'submit' up top, submit either a journal entry, or 'art', and under art, you'll find a category for literature, with several sub-categories.

Hehe, anyone who leaves a comment or fav, why not. It's about the only thing I do on DA these days.. I haven't created new art much in like... well, just before my daughter was born 3 years ago. Now that my new novel is almost out, (finalized the manuscript last night around 5am!) I might get into drawing again for a while. Being a daddy forced me to prioritize which hobbies got my limited free time. Art lost, writing won.
