Because if you really didn't care, why would you keep responding to everyone? If you really honestly didn't care like you claim, you wouldn't even be on deviant art displaying your work for people to see, because obviously, you want them to care. And since nobody does, you spend your time hear on deviant art critiquing others simply out of agony.

Actually, I keep responding because I think it is fun to be an asshole. It pisses all of you people off doesn't it..aww..Im sorry. anime is form of original art. DA is open to all original art. i understand your frustration of seeing nearly all anime art here, but then that's how it is here. maybe you can go find another realism or sketch art community. im sure you have the skill.

Ok listen up. I hear you've been dissing Anime Artists. Deviant Art is a place to express your feelings through art of all sorts---Anime included. If you cant deal with it then LEAVE. EVERYONE has a right to draw and post what they want WITHOUT Critisism. Anime is not ALL fanart. And even if it IS fanart it's still the drawers RIGHT to DRAW it. Its a style! Now, on the point of popularity:
Anime artists get hits. Yeah. But I'd like you to name one artist who draws anime to get hits!

I especially like to draw anime because of all of the different styles of anime. It's fun to experiment and try out new styles and stuff.
Another reason is because I like the culture and style; the plot-style is very different from the American stuff we've been accustomed to.
Out of my rambling, the moral of the story is: Art is not about how good someone is, and it isn't about your style or whether people like it or not. It is a way of expressing yourself and your creativity.
Why don't you go flame yourself? At least our art has meaning.

It's not like they claim to be better than they are. Most of us just draw for fun, and don't need people that expect more from us than we are willing to give telling us that we suck. There's alot of money to be had in cartooning, and if it's either that or selling ourselves on the streets then the more power to us.
I'm not trying to flame you, or invite a flame upon myself (I know I'm not that great), but haven't you ever heard of 'if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all'? Or at least keep it private?

Your art is really nice. I upload a lot of anime art, and I know that you're not exactly on good standing with that, yet I'm working to hopefully be as skilled as you are in different mediums...Its nice to see someone that deserves many favorites but doesnt draw anime. Even though anime is my thing, I love all sorts of art, and feel that just because something is anime, its more likely to get a favorite. Hey...same thing with a lot of lame photography...but your page is not to be ranted on...I'm simply saying that, I like anime, but I like your art too and I hope to see your art getting favorites and daily views....cuz...You deserve it as an artist...but please...dont go around bashing other artists that do anime...We have feelings too...that can be worse than theiving sometimes. Keep up the great lineart!

Please don't think I'm flaming you or being rude or anything (because I'm really trying not to be), but I'm just curious about why fan art seems to be such a big issue (I read something you wrote on Patches' page, so I thought I could ask)?
I myself have an anime style (And it's still my style. I see the differences, but a lot of people don't.), and I have my own characters, who have their own story etc etc. But I still like to draw fan art for people. It's fun, and it makes the people I draw it for happy, so I... sort of don't see the problem with it.
Anywho, I'll just reiterate my whole 'trying not to be rude' and 'not flaming you' thing. I'm simply curious.

Well, I think what you really want to know is what has been fueling my fire here. Trends have, trends are considered cool by large masses of people and its not because the trend is better than something else, a trend is only popular due to the insecure nature of people unconsciencly being drawn to it only because a few others pioneered their way into enjoying the trend. It is alot easier to like something when other people do rather than just getting up and thinking for yourself. I would just like to see some people on DA start to show me something I havent seen, I think we should all give something. Lets just leave the anime to the people that invented it in the beginning and just move onto something new, I know people have been saying that it has all been done already, but that is not true...there is still so much out there that we havent even imagined yet.....If I misunderstood your question let me know and I will try to answer it the best I can.

Haha...you would be surprised how much anime art the captain and I have burnt after creating it as nothing more than a joke. It is easy by the way, extremely! Sorry, I wouldnt tell you that I havent actually tried it, but I dont think there is much that I havent tried. I am not a closed minded person, I have given everything its fair chance and now I have weeded out all of the unworthy material... Thats why I can so confidently say what is shitty and what is pleasant.

Just for you I am gonna start on an anime drawing. I will scan it and post it as soon as I get a new scanner or mail it to a friend of mine to be scanned. For the record you can only put so much into an Anime drawing, its not that I dont try....its just that the art style is so limited.

I like to draw things that are exaggerated, yet simplified.. something that expresses my inner self.

I have worked very hard to close my heart to the world. It has been something that I have had to do for the line of work that I was in at one time. Who and what I am can't be changed even if I wanted to do so. Being on the outside now and looking in at all of the people with their hearts on the line is just a shame when I think about it. It is very trusting to be that way, and it is not worth it.....some people live their entire lives not realizing this. The sooner you do learn the better off you will be.

Thank you for responding the way you did. I believe you, but I feel that most people, like myself, are afraid of closing off their heart. Like they'll lose a part of themselves if they did. Okay, yeah I can see your point there. About wanting to see new things on DA (because I mean, at least 50% of stuff here is anime styled). But generally, isn't someone's own style influenced by what they're exposed to? If someone watches anime, chances are they'll have a bit of it in their art style, but that's normal. Of course, there are exceptions to that, but most of the time (at least for me it was) sort of a subconcious thing (Plus drawing photo-realism for a comic done in my spare time? Not a fun thought 
When I started drawing I only drew realism, but people out there complain about that, too. They tell me that there's no skill, or creativity in that (thought I understand the creativity remark, but no SKILL?). I suppose my thoughts are somewhere along the lines of, no matter what, someone out there if going to hate what you do. So you might as well do what comes naturally.
(and it's not that I don't get irritated by the whole trend thing. Trust me. I depise the work of my share of popular anime artists. -_-)

Dude, that's the thing. Anime was used to pass down stories and people through Japanese history. The japanese knew what they were doing commecialising it so if you got a complaint, blame the animators, not the people who follow them.
I do know what you're talking about, alot of people do wear things with anime logos and drawing in the style, I should know because I do myself, although I'm now focusing myself into still life and realistic stuff. But you'll never stop that, no one can. Trends come and go and if it leaves, you're gonna be just as pissed when it comes back. There's a lot of things i don't like in the world which are trends, but you gotta learn to either block em out or just live with them.
