think. And then when you're done thinking, go out into the world and observe. Observe everything. Join a cult, and then leave it. Become a buddhist, and then eat meat. Just have an opinion about something...that's all I think you need. Read books, there are plenty of people out there that are smarter than you. Read books also because there are plenty of people out their who are dumber than you. Take both with the same seriousness.
Some people will tell you to go to college and get a degree in it. Don't do that, it will corrupt your soul. They will just tell you how to think...it's almost the opposite of what the "great" philosophers intended. You don't have to be Socrates, or Neitzche or Kant.
I only call myself a philosopher (and I'm only partially one) because I like to think, and read, and talk with people abou the why .
Philo = love. Soph = knowledge. What else do you need?
Hope that helps, just remember, I have no real basis as to what I say other than my own experience. That heavily influences my thoughts.

Ah, you caught me on a time when I'm actually on DevArt....just can't stay away it seems.
I have an extremely hard semester ahead of me....so I can't respond to much art...I mostly just check for comments and messages and stuff. I haven't had time to photograph or write either, and it's been driving me bonkers. Hope you've had fun this summer....I did and I wish it would come back.
Thanks for stopping by. If I ever finish my homework, I'll stop by your page later.

Dear Litheba
It is true that the thread ("Re: The Microcosm and the Macrocosm: A middling long essay about 'community' and +fav") was proactively shut down, rather than dying a natural death. The closing of a thread, naturally, has to be carried out by a member of the DA staff, so naturally I am a little suspicious about ulterior opinion-unfriendly motives, but the official reason was: "Closed due to EXTREME thread revival." -^alteredreality
It all seems a little arbitrary to me.
I assume this verdict was due to my inability to spend much time on DA most weeks/months, limiting the windows of response available to me...as you can observe by the untimeliness of this reply. One has to wonder whether it is the number of, the frequency of, or the period between, 'revivals' that draws censure.
In any even...Thank you! I'm glad it interested some people. While the sheer energy I as a semi-invalid have to put into extended writing makes me less than eager to repeat that experiment I may in the fullness of time try to edit for submission as a 'deviation'. I fear, however, that rolling on of time has already significantly reduced its relevance.
yrs,
James

oh, seas has been thinking of....posting it as a journal, well, credit you and all!
could ask you to post as journal, in the mean time, so it's reply-able?
and as for admins closing it - they like to exercise their power, so it's basically done for anyone (well, except fellow admins, and total suckup losers) if you reply 1 month after or whatever it is. could be 1 week even. depends on how much they like checking dates.

I can understand. I didn't grow up in a suburban area (rural, actually) but all the people I knew did (or still do). So often times I clashed terribly with the majority.

I originally wanted less focus on the house, and more on the fading individual coming to terms with the memory of the house. Like, the blurry background is still but an old memory, and the character is trying to confront that memory. I'm not sure if that makes sense, but thank you for the comment.
I'm glad you're here.
