I know it's a week early but I've been belated so many times and I'm a space case so I might forget later... Happy Birthday 1 week early.
Keep up the awesome work you do.
I'm sorry my whole website thing fell through and I wasn't able to feature your work (yours and others). BTW you ever consider joining Affect3D?

With your talent, that's understandable. Yeah, bb code is a little tedious at first. Think of it as another toolset.
Dunno if I can help or give a concise quick guide but I'll try.
It's fairly simple in concept. You put image tags within [brackets] on each side of the URL of your image.
Example:
[TAG]your_image_URL_goes_here[/TAG]
--now replace where it says TAG above with IMG on a forum that uses BB code such as the aforementioned Affect3D.
You can usually "go advanced" and do it with buttons in a toolbar above the text. Affect3D lets you do it 2 ways.
Method 1:
copypasta your image URL, then highlight it again and press the button. Should tag it for you.
Method 2:
click the button the first time, paste the image URL, cloks "close tags" in the red text on the toolbar.
Third method, the way I learned:
Reply to a post, look at what they did with it, and imitate it with a little experimentation. It eventually worked.
Hope that helps.

Lookin' good to me! Seems you've got a few other people already posting who've been anticipating you.
Welcome to the asylum of your fellow freaks!
If you ever thought of making little bits of paid-only content for a little bit of cash on the side, Supro and Miro can help you get set up--you have talent and I suspect people would pay. People think Affect3D is only hardcore porn which is not true, they have tasteful *art* 3D (pinup/ecchi) as well. They do all kinds.
Well, if ye need something like help with bb code or just to chat with a fellow 3D and Star Wars fan, I'm around. Also Fredfred is the most laid back mod I've ever met on a forum--and still manages to care more than mods on /b chan. People are friendly and willing to help.

I've thought about doing paid only sections, but I didn't want my work to be exclusive to any one site. It's just a hobby for me and I only create what I want to see (I've tried to do commissions before but I lose interest instantly and my creative drive goes away). Plus I have to be careful about what I do charge for, and since most of my stuff is Star Wars fan art I definitely couldn't charge anything for that stuff.
Thanks for helping get me set up on that site, it's always good to have a site where I can post the stuff that I can't post here

Hey, no problem. I get exactly where you're coming from. I'm in that same boat. Reminds me of an artist friend of mine IRL, a classical artist as in artist of the old style--purely by hand. There's a rift between industrial artist and 'starving' artist, the latter know they need money but have a complicated motivation and inspiration that dies when pressured or paid where your works are on a steady stream.
Some artists like Zzomp upload packages of freebies to the various stores for convenience sake in addition to being free on their home websites. And even paid content can be sold at multiple stores so exclusivity isn't necessarily an issue, but I digress.
Yeah... actually I've had to put in thought on that front. Assuming of course, whatever I produce from this hobby is good enough for people to want to pay for any of it. Parodies and fanart of popular characters would necessarily have to remain free (which is probably where the popularity will stick). OCs are the only thing you can charge for. I don't believe there's necessarily restrictions on theme--though you never know with Disney owning LF now.
Glad I could help! Indeed it is good to have places where you can go "full disclosure". Though the moment you upload anything at one spot, it's only a matter of time before it's posted to the likes of g.e-hentai or rule 34--so you'd have to beat 'em to the punch if you want to be the first uploader! As for me, I'm just here treading along in Daz, learning as I go.

Yeah I get alot of my stuff posted at Rule34. I don't mind since most people tag me on the image, and most other people know my work when they see it. I like to check it out sometimes and read the comments people leave, they crack me up over there at rule34, some of the arguments they get into.
You're learning the way I did, just taught myself by trial and error playing with poser that I got on a computer that a friend of mine gave me. Then I just took off from there. Never being satisfied with the way 3d art looked I was always trying to find ways to make it look more fantastical, less 3d, less flat and lifeless. The problem with 3d for the most part is the objects look real, but the people don't. At least they don't look like living people, they just look like dolls. I try to avoid that as much as possible.

Much as in the same ways as Craigos (a.k.a. LooksCanKill) does. He has at least as much experience invested in the 3D aspects of Poser as a longtime user, as he does in the aspects of 2D and postwork--it really gives that killer realistic edge. Or in your case it really plays up the fantastical looks.
Have to admit I'm a bit apprehensive about that postwork aspect myself being of limited experience.
Tweaking some .tga files to mod a game. Well, 8 bit sprite edits, but this wasn't for anything serious, anyways.
I'm... so-so at drawing by hand. Never quite got it down how to make a skeleton template for 2D--not one which turned out decently anyways.
As to SW characters and props... I see stuff on ShareCG, some things on Daz store, some stuff on Renderosity, and even some free downloads here on dA. Did you make yours from scratch?

Some of the things I make from scratch. I prefer to just download objects, but sometimes I can't find what I'm looking for so I have to build. Everything for Darth Talon except the victoria model and lekku model I had to make. Krayts armor and helmet I made. It started to get to the point where I wouldn't even look anymore I would just build my own props, but now with the comic I want to make, I need to get things done as quick as I can before it becomes too much like work. Scifi3d has a ton of really high quality free models

ArgonCyanide777 In reply to darthhell [2015-04-10 04:16:21 +0000 UTC]
Thanks for that tip. Kind of like Turbosquid has a ton of objects. Generics, granted. Some of it paid. I'll be sure to look.
I figured as much. There's no way I cold vacuum up all the wish list items I have saved. On my budget... I'll be lucky to have my hardware upgrades by year's end. I am working from two old office desktops which don't like what I'm doing. But yeah, a lot of what I want will require custom stuff.
I anticipated needing to make custom hair pieces so nabbed up LAMH (which I can't even use right now), but wonder if more advanced stuff isn't ultimately inevitable. At least it exports as objects so I can take it with me to other programs. Maybe I can trade or sell custom pieces--perhaps a small return on my investments. Other custom items...undoubtedly will require sculpting programs.
I often need to spend time conceptualizing and writing ideas, and then feeding it (part of which is my fave list growing leaps and bounds almost daily, among other things). Otherwise I run out of fuel. But I totally understand how things get monotonous when it's no longer fun at all or it seems to take an inordinate amount of time and effort for the end results. Mentally at 30 I just don't have the energy I used to, though I have patience. So it's a matter of what I deem "worth it" or not. The stuff that keeps me going is worth it, it keeps attacking from within.

Yeah I just bought a new computer because my old one couldn't keep up with my new demands. My whole system would just come to a stop while a render was happening, and even the render had a hard time as it was sucking up every bit of available ram.
When it comes to hair, I just paint it on. Hair props never look good to me and the rendered hair looks too realistic for what I usually go for. I played with the hair setting in 3dsmax years ago and it was such a pain in the ass. It looked cool but getting it placed the way I wanted it seemed to take forever. I know it was my lack of experience and if I was better at it, it would probably go quicker. But I just decided learning to paint it would probably be less frustrating. The only problem with that is if I ever decide to animate, then I'll have to learn the hair department.
I like to work in stages, it keeps things fresh. One day I'll be completely in the writing state, so I'll just spend the day doing that. The next day I might be in the prop building state, or scene design. That helps me from getting bored too quickly. One of my favorite times is when I'm in the character development mode. I like designing back stories and creating characters and such.

Yeah, same sort of thing happens here. I can only really produce low quality, if that. I'm on the fence whether to go CPU/hybrid or go GPU for renders. An 8GB GTX980ti availability is about a year off or so. I might be in the okay next year. But one thing at a time. The best for my Z77A-GD65 mobo I can get is i7 3770K w/ 32Gb ram either way. Yeah ...I'm a little behind.
True. It matters what the end outcome is that determines how good a hair piece will be to use. Some go for the more toon/comic 2D look and I can't say I blame people. Animations? There's some avenues you can go--some of which were covered in the thread. Depends what you're after. I can at least point you in a few directions if nothing else. What I can say is at least you have something for a skill in that area. Yeah hair is a pain even when it is fully interact-able. Most folks don't want to bother posing the hair itself, or creating a new prop for a given situation (i.e. girl on her back and hair all over the ground) so they tend to either avoid that altogether or get hair which is easier to work with.
Really? I'm much the same if a bit more sporadic. As opposed to specializing, I have been a generalist all my life, a sort of one man army. It has disadvantages but when you make something come together by yourself, anything at all, there is nothing like the feeling. Yeah, the development stage is something I enjoy. I don't tend to post my works, though. Which makes me a lousy artist but that doesn't bother me. That's kinda why I'm getting off into this 3D hobby, because I want to be able to share at least some of it with the outside world.

darthhell In reply to ArgonCyanide777 [2015-04-13 02:40:25 +0000 UTC]
Yep, a one man army is a pretty good way to say it. I do it that way because I'm never satisfied with other peoples work or ideas. When I have a universe in my head nobody else's input can match what going on inside here.
I think that was one of the problems with Lucas's prequels. It's not that the movies were bad (except Jar-Jar yes) but we had all individually built up in our minds what WE thought it should be, and when it wasn't people didn't like it. Except me, I actually liked the prequels, I thought there was alot of story and plot in them and loved seeing Palpatines manipulations. I only wish Padme didn't die because now Leia's memories of her don't make any sense.

ArgonCyanide777 In reply to darthhell [2015-04-13 09:01:03 +0000 UTC]
I like the Prequel Trilogy as well (though not without some caveats growing more pronounced as I get older) and I even wager we probably are of the same mind about the new direction? (I'll just stay with the old EU, thanks! Yeah, legacy, Revan, KOTOR games, SWTOR, Great Hyperspace war, Exar Kun, Darth Bane Trilogy.) And if not, no big deal. I'll be honest, I only saw bits of the original trilogy when I was little, then I saw the whole thing when I could understand it only about 4 years before TPM was released.
Yeah...I couldn't quite understand that part about Leia and Padme after ROTS.
I hear ya on that one. I'm hesitant to share what I specifically want to do in a program for sculpting (though some of it might be apparent by my faves). I just want to do it for myself and then share as an afterthought. If people like it, cool. If not, no skin off my nose.
Not sure if I have a universe or a multiverse in my head. Perhaps I can reconcile them into a universe. In summary I have my 18+ material, then my 3 fantasies which I'm not sure I want to release until maybe my dying day (but know feedback is vital to make them worth a damn), and then my individual SW fandom. I guess what I can do is write fiction and generally try to improve on my abilities on that.
I worry I've already said too much. Not that I'm paranoid, but rather I'm often cursed with botched execution. Partially I think because I never knew the Asian saying of wisdom until several years ago: Speak less of your plans, and you will get more of them done. Sort of like jinxing your luck and karma if you talk about good deeds you have done. So I try not to pop off about them until I'm serious enough to be able to commit.

darthhell In reply to ArgonCyanide777 [2015-04-13 15:47:59 +0000 UTC]
Most of my material is 18+, I do have those parts of me that enjoy what is mostly considered surreal, and some goth type stuff like I'm doing in my Alice in Wonderland series. Or sometimes an occasional landscape or space scene, but I am a true eroticist at heart and have been since as long as I can remember. So most of my stuff steers back in that direction. It's funny but when I do a non-erotic piece people usually ask what's wrong with me, like I'm sick or something And I have my fetishes and such that I don't even try to hide, the me you know here online is the me other people know in person.
I know what you mean about not wanting to say too much. When I started working on this comic I didn't say anything about it until I had hit a point that I knew I was definitely going to do it. I don't like people expecting anything out of me, which is another reason I don't do commissions or requests. And like you, I just do it for me, but I post it because I know other people will like it. I know my stuff will never be mainstream popular just because of subject matter alone, but I like it and I'm the only audience I cater to

A genuine way is best, yes. I try to be consistent as well, but I do find it a smart move to simply avoid saying/revealing too much. We all change, so it makes sense to be able to divest without much hassle in making the transition. I have to admit, though: I have a somewhat plain life (I think), so I'm a little thrilled in having a fun second life. I just make sure not to let it get too out of hand. Not everyone can do that, though. Discretion is the better part of valor, but the glory tends to get the better of most.
I figure a 'live and let live' philosophy in the way you conduct yourself makes it difficult for any would-be adversary to assail you. Analogous, in my observations, to a moat of flammable liquid to guard your house full of threads--they have to fight you fairly on a bridge because if they try to swim across to torch it behind your back, they too will catch aflame...HAH! Here I am, a roughneck, rambling about philosophy.
I do wonder if it's narcissistic to the "do it for you" mantra...if there is no hubris involved, doesn't that just make you "particular", as discriminating in taste?
...Well, we're our own worst critics and if there's one thing we can learn from /b-chan: "you never know just how much you suck in the real world". I guess it keeps one grounded.

darthhell In reply to ArgonCyanide777 [2015-04-14 04:01:00 +0000 UTC]
Oh definitely, never reveal too much. I follow that advice simply because when most people talk in general terms about themselves, their accomplishments and the way they are, I have very little interest (not always but most of the time). So at the same time I'm not going to kid myself into thinking that anyone else has any interest in what I have to say about myself. I too have a pretty plain life, but that's the way I like it. It's like we all sit around and each person waits for their chance to speak about themselves and while they do the rest of us just sit there and tune it out. I've actually witnessed this on so many occasions that I just quit talking in groups. If someone asks me a direct question I'll offer an answer, but I never jump into a conversation otherwise. I just listen. It's why I don't do facebook or twitter.
I am definitely discriminating in my particular taste so I would say yes. A friend once told me that artists see the world differently. I said well I don't really know how an artist thinks or how anyone else who isn't me sees anything, but I can tell you how I do. I think I see it the same way everyone does, it's just that I'm not seeing the things I want to, so I put them there for myself
I put into the world what I want to take out of it. I've even had people try to get me to change my fantasy style and go more realistic because that's what they prefer, but they never stop to think "wait, maybe he does the fantasy look for a reason". People are funny.
Yeah we are our own worst critics, at least I know I am. I have a little voice inside that is always telling me "You know you can do better than that"

I see. Yeah, took me awhile but I figured out that when I would TL;DR a rant... I also looked just a foolish when I would rant. Y'know I never thought I'd come across someone else who shares a lot of the same general views about what it is to be an artist (or not), how much we know (but never for absolute certainty), and what it is to know what being self-absorbed is (or at least lacking a level of self awareness and avoiding that). It's been awesome talking with you.
Yeah, there's a saying about social media: "I used to wish I could read peoples' minds. After 10 minutes on Facebook (or other), I am SO done with it." --unknown
Granted I use it to keep in touch with some, but at the same time if I go too deep in I regret it. Usually.
Since 2007 I tended to kick around YouTube, if that...and a few forums. I'm actually glad PhotonicInduction is currently back making YT videos again though. I don't think I'll ever get tired of people using massive electricity to blow things up.
Ah yes, internal feedback. And if you have a conversation with it aloud, you are accused of being schizophrenic. Ugh. I have two. Sometimes it's right brain, left brain; sometimes it's good vs evil; on rare occasion they keep me company and are helpful; most of the time they're trolling me. And when they decide to argue...it's a lot like Pyramidhead87 and DeusEx.

Yes I do like conversations like this. It's better when it's just a few people or 1 on 1 talking. Especially when there is a common ground to talk about, that keeps the interest. It's when everybody starts talking about unrelated things (like my friends like to do) that nobody really pay attention to what the others are saying. But when we start talking beer brewing for example, then we're all in since we all brew, and then we can have a good conversation.
And there is something to be said about single conversation I do that too, but only when no one is around
Holy damn! I'd forgotten just how frustratingly annoying those mario games were. That would have been pretty cool to do a voice for one of those.

Well, before he went away, PH told me it's pretty much anyone's game to do with as they please. So voicing is perhaps a possibility. Problem is getting others for voicing.
Yeah mario romhacks sure are something else. While I'm no too up on mario or SNES hacks, there's a wiki database for most anything anymore. I did try the super mario forever hack featured on the "super mario frustration" vid. Yes, it's as hard as it looks. I'm more to the megaman type stuff.
BTW, just a protip on A3D, scat and urine are against the rules. Considering Gazukull asked for it and he's a longstanding contributing member, AND the fact both your attention to detail and postwork skill are surpassed by few...I think they'll let it slide this time. Don't be surprised if one of the staff says something, though...if they haven't already. Actually your cartoony quality made it not gross to look at, which is impressive I must say. Still don't think I'll get into it, though. That cantina V.I.P. "view" is rather innovative and yet so simple I wonder why more haven't thought of it.

Damn! It's hard to find sites that allow the urine, and people are always asking me for them. Nobody has said anything yet about it. Hentai and imagefap are the only places I've found, and maybe 'rotica but I haven't posted there in years. Ahh well if I can't then I can't. There will be a bit of that in the comic though. The pee stuff never bothers me but I understand the no scat, there are things I can't even get into for the sake of the fans, scat and dickgirls. My two biggest buzz-kills.

I've...tolerated urine but it definitely isn't something I'd want done to me irl. Now female squirting, ejaculating and cumming is totally fine on the other hand. Well, g.e-hentai is my standard for whether or not someone is "on the map" with their works. They allow it but it usually requires a user disclaimer before entering & viewing the gallery. Rule 34 *might*, both of them. There's the paheal version and then the dot_xxx version.
There's stuff I just can't get into, and I wouldn't do it for anything. Kills the mood and some of it goes against the grains of who I am as a person. One does not abandon principles. Not that I'm judging people necessarily--there is moralfagging but then there's also being a total piece of shit with no spine.
I digress... I liked some of the clubs I've seen in SWTOR. There are some definite products which are nods to star wars. Then there are also a ton of hi tech places and futuristic clubs for sale. I'm not totally sure on all of it. I see you made yours custom so...is there something to building scenes like that? A tool or program?
