Hey there

The most important thing to know is.....every decision is a group decision All admins give a vote (incl. founder and co-founder)....right now 5 people evaluate submissions. And more admins will come.
But the main reasons are following : We are looking for the best bokeh-shots. That means the technical and the artistic part is important to us. Very important in my personal opinion is f.e. the focus on the main subject especially in bokeh-works because the biggest part of the capture is blur and out of focus. So if the focus on the main subject isn't 100% correct we can't accept a capture.

We try to keep the level as high as possible here. That doesn't mean your pictures are not good. There is simply room for imporvement Please don't feel bad and take it personal.

(i can't remember how often i got declined here on DA ....i quit counting )

i see. so this is more like an elitist group ~ definitely not fit for me! thanks for the reply though ~ but i'll stick to amateur photo groups since i'm more fitted for them ~

You need either:
a lens that has a low aperture (f/4 or lower)
a long telephoto lens
a macro lens
or a camera that can focus at a close distance

Having an SLR also helps.
