If you watched the video (Which only would of taken 5 whole minutes of your ever so precious time), you would of seen that every large mental health organization in the United States has already decided through research and dedicated study that it is not a mental illness to be gay, I apologize that you had to hide my comment to save your own skin from the reality of medical science. You can denyΒ irrefutable scientific principals all you'd like but as you are using false scientific claims of 'deformity' and clinging to the false notion that homosexuality is a mental illness.
The American Medical Association, The American Psychiatric Association, The American Psychological Association, The American Psychoanalytic Association, The American Academy of Pediatrics, and The National Association of Social Workers have all done their own studies and research leading to one single conclusion and released their own separate statements on homosexuality in which they all agreed that homosexuality is not and should not be treated as a mental disorder and that they oppose 'conversion therapy'.

Every year, every month, every day, every minute, there are improvements in medical science. Not everything that was accurate years ago is accurate now. Look back at all sorts of ridiculous medical practices that did more harm than good. Are you telling me that all of that done in the past medically was accurate and just? People used to give their children 'soothing syrup' which was full of narcotics. Just a few months ago on the news there was someone busted for selling a mix of bleach as a cancer cure. Science isn't perfect, but we are getting it there. We did not always have the capacity to understand the human body and there is still more to be explained.
With our new methods of scanning and imaging of the brain and other organs (which is a new and recent development in the grand scheme of medical science) we are able to see that being a homosexual is not a deformity of the brain, or a mental illness, it is natural and genetic.

Not to jump in uninvited, but I thought I'd give an outside opinion on this matter. I have a degree in Developmental Psychology and homosexuality has not been considered a mental illness for over a decade in ANY state since that sort of thing is regulated by a national organization of science, medicine, and mental health.Β
What you are talking about, about 'differences,' is simply adaption. Dark skinned people have darker skin because they live near the equator, where there is more sun all year, while lighter skinned people live in more polarized areas where there is less sun. That is the only true difference in a human. What our ancestors adapted to was different, that's it.Β
Also, homosexuality is quite normal, even if they can't reproduce without scientific help. There have been documentation of homosexual relationships as far back as ancient Egypt, there are hieroglyphs of gay men. It doesn't take much to find either, once you push past the Christian surge to cover up a lot of homosexual history.
I do hope you are simply attempting at trolling and aren't being serious about this, because these kinds of comments are horrible and bigoted. Β

To answer your question, no they are not seen as normal, but understandable in the times they were practiced. Cannibalism was often used in rituals for one reason or another, but is no longer used now. Sexuality was much more blurred in ancient times than it is now and Heterosexuality has been advertised as the 'normal' and everything else is wrong, but that does not mean it actually is so. Zoophilia is now considered wrong because animals cannot consent, something our ancestors did not concern themselves with. Pedophilia is different now than it was just a century ago since the definition of an adult has changed so much since then. Β All examples you have given can be explained culturally, as can your view of homosexuality, but that does not make them scientific fact. The main argument here is if homosexuality is normal and natural, and science shows that it is time and again.Β
