Based off =/= Race
You can either have it based of a race or you have it that race. You can't have it both ways. That's not how it works. Thus making the Avatar Universe a universe with only four nations and no races. And Anng looks like many kids at that age, except bald. It's a common look.

That's why as a creator they need to have signed something that allowed them to be in charge of overseeing the production. I mean you have to be stupid to sign over your own creation and not have any say in it, further more if they have noticed the trends in movies based on Cartoons they should have thought "Hey they might alter this"
Furthermore there is the fact that because they have no say in this movie that it falls under the fan art of movies where they take the concept and put their own touches on it.

Because for one, it's a movie based on a TV show, those NEVER go well. In the history of cinema these kinds of movies have always been done poorly and attract by title alone with the exception to Ninja Turtles 1 and 2. Furthermore who says I have to be a die hard fan? There is no law against that, in fact I'm going to watch the movies along with 50% of the so called "Racebenders" because I want to see what M. Night is going to do to this series and see if he can pull off a good movie.
And skipping ahead you can't clam diversity in these kinds of films and TV shows you know why? Because in order for something to be diverse you need all of Earth's people. You don't see Mexicans and Blacks getting bent out of shape at this movie? No Russians or French people got mad at the series. Because at the Time Avatar was just that a cartoon based on Asian culture, but now that the creators did the amateur thing and signed away their creative rights to over see the film it falls under a different interpretation on the series and everyone cries about diversity, even though thier vision of diversity is an all Asian cast.
