Yeah, really. Takes so much effort to do that, y'know?
He's pretty young so a lot of kids starting out trace or copy work (I used to copy Disney art when I was 14), but even then I wouldn't have put traced or copied copyrighted material up on a site that makes profit with the ads (copyright law!). If they had sites when I was 14, lawl.

After considering, you still have to assume something if you don't know the facts. Also, it doesn't change a thing about what I criticized about the typical behavior of a tracer.
So I dare to ask, what's your point?

Immahsheepzombie In reply to MarikBentusi [2009-08-20 17:26:49 +0000 UTC]
because you assumed he was when he wasnt.

So let me sum this up:
You said, he rarely goes online anymore.
I said, those pictures might have been uploaded because of pageviews.
I don't see the collision here. There's still room for the theory as he could have uploaded pictures when he was still active. Of course I do not have insight whether that theory is correct, however since the only thing I can do is assume, I do exactly this.

Ever tried animating? It aint easy ^.^
But it's so satisfying when u press play and watch ur creation move with a life of its own.
I have to wonder what u get out of the tracing besides pageviews....
Have a go at making something original - It's good fun =^.^=

I love animating. It takes so long though, I can get frustrated. (so then I cut corners) What program(s) do you use?

Paper, Flash, layers in Photoshop if I'm stuck at school I do like drawing animation on stacks of paper but Flash is so much quicker to use that it's slowly winning me over to 100% digital work
I do love that clean vector style you can acheive in Flash! But it tends to show up the issues with my lineart ....
I think I left that comment all that time ago because a friend linked me to a gallery full of traced work don by someone who didn't seem to respect the hard work animators do... I was kinda shocked - but now I know that traces and recolors are normal on dA

Excuse me I don't know who you are coming onto my husbands page and posting messages like this to him but I'm not happy.
I've been watching my husband on DeviantART for many months now and I'm shocked how you people just come on here and leave him messages like this!
Do you not take it into consideration that some people on here actually have a family and do not appreciate getting comments like this?
Sure you may think its alright to leave him one, but did you know that he has two children and another one on the way?
Do you know how it makes me feel to think that my muffin in the oven is going to grow up thinking that people leaving its daddy comments like this is acceptable?
I think not!
I think you should think about your actions and next time think twice before you leave my husband messages like this!

hi !imagamer1
Sorry that my comment upset you, but I'm not going to apologise for it.
You don't know who I am - I'll explain a bit and tell you that I'm someone who makes my money from art and animation. So do the people whose art your husband has stolen. I'm afraid that I feel that taking other people's property is wrong, and when I come across stolen artwork - I don't want to just sit back and ignore it. I was once very nearly disqualified from all my GCSE exams because somebody stole my artwork and presented it as her own, so this is an issue I feel strongly about. Plagiarism can often result in the original artist being hit with serious art-theft accusations and having their career destroyed as mine very nearly was.
It may be hard for amateur artists and those who consider dA as a social networking site to understand - but professionals' art is their livelihood. Perhaps you weren't aware of the facts here, but your husband was informed that art theft has no place on an artists' site and continued to post the images despite this.
Maybe your husband should put together a gallery of original art that your children can be proud of?

Well, normal, yes, something that we should approve of, no. I dislike the fact that it's all still there.
I love flash. I got started on digital work in flash. It's just so, awesome, there's no other way to describe it. You do animation on stacks of paper? I don't believe I've ever talked to anyone who truly uses that as a serious form of animation with all the digital stuff we have nowadays.

Well, before I had a tablet and a copy of Flash it was the only way
And then I had a tablet and the free program GIMP so I tried animating on stacks of layers in that but I'm sure you can understand that that was much harder than the traditional way! I got Flash about a year ago - but for a while I drew rough motion sketches with the Brush tool and then printed them to draw my animation on paper still as I just couldn't get nice enough results with the pencil tool. Now I like the smooth curves the pen vector drawing tools produce, though
I still can't bring myself to use tween on characters, but I find my limited knowledge of it helpful to create moving backgrounds and techniques like that
