Description
well,it is a siren. They were confused with mermaids because when they first appeared someone mistaken the word "pennis" that means feathers ,with "pinnis" that means fins .Mhh.anyway this was meant to be an ipotetic monster-book picture for my rpg but maybe it's too empty..uh i don't know,i like only her wing.
uhh..lately i'm drawing only girls.. maybe it's the approaching spring? or maybe just an alien virus that eat my brains? brains..

The two Sirens were half bird and half fish creatures who lured their victims with a hypnotic sing, the victims would sail their boat into the rocks or jump in getting smash by the strong currant in the rock. The Siren would then eat the flesh that would wash up at the entrance to the cave, they say the Siren were beautiful, but that is unlikely. The cave was a ways from the rocks, so the men wouldn't have been able to see there beauty even if they were. Maybe the men who heard the song saw illusions of beautiful woman. The siren couldn't swim away cause of the strong currant and the rocks, they couldn't fly away cause their wings would be wet or they were in the cave, the cave would had an underwater entrance or an entrance that was too small for them to fly out of. I know they were being punish by a god, but they never say whether the Siren were turned into those creatures or if they were a half harpy, half merman offspring and were being punished for something they had done. Most version don't even describe them at all. You got to remember that the Gods in Greek Mythology were petty, The Gods punish mankind for simple thing, or just cause they felt like it.

Wow! This is fantastic. Really good use of dark against light and not too many lines.

Beautiful. I don't see many sirens, but this one's amazing. I love how her skin at the edges is somewhat translucent so one can see the veins. The coloring's fanatastic. I thought it was real media o.O

You've got a great style, I love the strength of your linework and the way the colours melt into each other in the background is amazing, has a kind of hypnotic feel to it... which suits the subject perfectly ^^ What I do think that needs some more work are the hands (aren't they a pain to draw?),they look a bit flat when compared to the rest of the picture.
Great pic anyway, I like the fact that you did something more than just portray the figure, you made her look just in place.
