He wakes from a fitful slumber; paws digging into cool earth. He doesn’t remember how he came to this hilltop overlooking a field below, yet somehow it feels right. Ryker thinks a moment to himself; tries to reel in on fleeting dreams as they kiss his brain on their way out the door.

Something feels off, but the wolf cannot put a cow on it. There are images, still burned into his mind even now as he closes his eyes and feels the cool breeze against his fur. They look like people. Does he know them? Yes. He must.

Or maybe he doesn’t.

He likes to think, as he lays upon this hill, that maybe it wasnt just a dream. The people. The strange monsters. Even himself; a strider on two limbs instead of four. What if it was real? Well- if it was, then surely he would have remembered it more clearly.

Alas, it couldnt be.

The memories are hazy; but that’s because they are all just dreams of a wolf wishing to be man.
