Something— somewhere— beckons her…

Unable to teleport to a place she’s never been, Reverie visualizes the spots where she has been, content to let the strange, yearning, feeling guide her.

She flickers from shoreline to shoreline, and the sand transitions from dull, gravelly and wet to soft and fine, to reddish like clay, then night-black and then to a shore more rock than sand…

At each shore she sees other esk, alone like herself or huddled together in groups, each of them preoccupied with their own findings and speculations. Sometimes she stops to observe, noting a pattern in the seemingly random scatter of objects, or distracted by the murmur of voices— both object and esk— she can hear; other times she barely spares a glance, hastening to reach a destination of her own.

The pull she feels changes like the ebb and flow of the tides— faint, then stronger, then weaker, then stronger yet again. It’s as if a voice is calling her…

And then… she’s at a familiar place, that’s not quite right… but almost right. The voice drawing her in is the most persistent it’s been yet. She journeys the rest of the way on foot, the sound reminiscent of the crash of waves on rock, getting louder and louder.

Finally, she spots— feels— it. Clustered on the sands is three objects.

A pendant, a shell, and..

The last one holds her attention— a dark, greenish stone that sings of magma flows and underwater eruptions.

She flickers from shoreline to shoreline, and the sand transitions from dull, gravelly and wet to soft and fine, to reddish like clay, then night-black and then to a shore more rock than sand…
