Description

As Jason's ship, the Argo, approaches the island of Crete, the giant copper automaton and guard of the island, Talos, awakens as he senses the intruders. When he erupted from the sand it was if Earth itself was being shook, his footsteps were like the sound of thunder, and his shadow could consume entire buildings. He was also capable of heating his body up to the point of merely touching him causing an agonizing, scalding death. The titan, however, had one vital weakness: a nail in his heel that, when removed, would cause his life form (which is described as pouring out like molten lead) to drain until he died.
He began pursuing Jason and his crew, his sheer size causing violent waves that pushed the boat further into the sea, and even as far out as they were, Talos was still only knee deep into the vast waters. As it seemed hopeless, Medea (a sorceress) would conjure spirits that were only visible to Talos, and scare off the giant, saving her and the crew.
