The layout of this picture is perfect, the gecko is in the centre, so your is drawn straight to the gecko. There isnt too much 'empty' space around the gecko. Which works to the pictures advantage.
The focus on the face of the gecko is crisp, you can see all detail, even in the ey of the gecko. Which works to the pictures advantage. I love how the the detail fades out, as you look further down the gecko's body. The out of focus yellow black/brown works well as a contrast against the black background.
Good use and example of macro photography.

Wonderful photo; the lighting and colors are perfect. My only complaint is that this gecko looks a little overweight, but other than that, he's beautiful.
