She sat for a year, practically untouched. Not a spark plug was fired, no squirts of fuel primed the carb, and the wheels were held stationary. Then out of nowhere, it happened. She fired, sputtered, coughed. Again, she fired, and roared to life. Around the block she went. Blood leaked, engine shook. She returned to the driveway, but to a spot on the opposite side. After a week long rest, her hubcaps were pried off and wheels unbolted. Rallys took their place. Then her hood was popped. Off with the EGR Valve and the valve cover gaskets glued with silicone, and on with the replacements. For a third time, she fired to life, and around the block again she went. No blood, no engine shakes. She still had a long way to go, but for the moment there was bliss.
