Description
CharacterName: Jumpingkit | Jumpingpaw | Jumpingspider
[Jumping] - named at a slightly older age, for her behavior in the nursery--her jumping skills
[paw] - traditional apprentice suffix
Clan: SkyClan
Age: 6 moons
Rank: Apprentice
Gender: She-cat
Appearance details: Massive golden spotted tabby she-cat who stands almost level with most warriors at only six moons. Her pelt is adorned with brown and black oceloid spots and stripes, with a darker stripe running down from the back of her neck to her tail. Her underbelly is a lighter, beige shade from her cheeks and chin down to the end of her stomach. Although most of her pelt is ordinary for a savannah cat, her back paws are a black gradient, as if she stepped in mud and it's stained into her fur. Her ears are taller than most other cats', and only add to her height--the back of her ears are marked with ocelli, high contrast markings inherited from their ancestors to scare off predators. Hers are black on light brown. While her nose is a brick red color, her pawpads are black. On her right side, her canine tooth sticks out in a little snaggletooth--but this does not occur on her left side. Her grandmother is an f1 Savannah former kittypet, and though Jumpingpaw's genes have been watered down from her own parent breeding with domestic cats, her resemblence to her grandmother is still very strong.
History
Jumpingpaw wasn't around for it, but she has heard her elder grandmother tell her enough times about the life she came from before she joined the clans. The Clan cats speak of coming from wild cat ancestors, from lions and tigers, but her grandmother, Leopardsong, personally descended from a massive wildcat. She told Jumpingpaw of the serval cats that are her own ancestors, and how the servals and the ordinary cats came together. Jumpingpaw doesn't understand a lot of Leopardsong's past, but it involved twolegs. Twolegs helping the servals and the cats come together and make lots of cats like Leopardsong, although the new cats never stayed for long, and Leopardsong didn't either. Before she was old, new twolegs came to take her away from her old twolegs, and she moved into a new house, with no other Savannah cats like herself. She told Jumpingpaw that it was lonely--but the twolegs did treat her well. She told her clan cats hated twolegs, but in truth, they were usually harmless. They usually only wanted to pet cats or feed them, and that if Jumpingpaw ever encountered one, to stay calm and not be afraid.
But Leopardsong didn't stay with her twolegs forever. Because one day, the twolegs added a new addition to the family. Leopardsong would always take time to embellish her reaction at this part, to go on about how she had wanted a companion and how she was lonely and how she longed for someone to talk to and thought she might go crazy because she spent her time in the windows of the house trying to talk to birds outside. But the new addition was not another cat--it was a dog. Leopardsong was a big cat, and so this dog was smaller than her. And in her humble opinion, she thought it was the most annoying dog in the world. It barked constantly. It hounded her for attention. The twolegs laughed at it and seemed to prefer spending time with it instead of her--it even got to leave the house! It peed on everything--and it peed on her cat tree palace (whatever that was), and Leopardsong said she felt that was the final straw, because her twolegs threw it away after that. She considered the fact that the dog was so much smaller and stupider than her that she could probably kill it, but she thought her twolegs would hate her if she did. So instead, she bided her time and waited for her opportunity.
The opportunity came when the dog was going out on another walk, and her twolegs were fumbling with the door open to get the leash onto the brainless canine. Distracted by its antics, Leopardsong managed to race past and out the door. And she was free! Her twolegs didn't have a chance of catching her; she was so much faster than they were. She thought about going back to her first twolegs, where her parents were and where she'd always recieved plenty of attention, but instead, she found herself heading into the forest, and in a matter of time she found SkyClan.
When SkyClan first let her join, Leopardsong had insisted they let her change her name. The leader at the time had chosen Leopard- because of her spots. But Leopardsong had insisted she wasn't related to a leopard. She was related to servals. But the clan cats had never heard of servals, and that insult nearly caused Leopardsong to turn tail and head home. In the end, she couldn't talk them into letting her be Servalsong--so Leopardsong it was. And eventually, Leopardsong had found a mate, and she joked it was a good thing she liked short cats! Because she was always the tallest in the clan. Her mate, Kestrelsnap, was a ginger tabby tom, and eventually the two settled down and decided to have kits.
Leopardsong doesn't like to talk much about the first litter, but Jumpingpaw knows from her mother and other cats that the first litter was one kitten, stillborn. It was discouraging, and Leopardsong decided maybe she didn't want kits, and she wanted to continue focusing on being a warrior instead. But fate has a way of chosing your path for you, and so it wasn't too many moons before she was back in the nursery again. Leopardsong will talk about her second litter though. It was again, one kit, a she-cat that she named Falconkit, for the spotted falcons she had seen since coming here. She joked that she would name her Servalkit first though. And despite Kestrelsnap's involvement in the kit, Falconkit still looked more or less like her mother, though she never grew quite as large.
Falconfire doesn't let Leopardsong go on and on and on about her own life as long as she's around for the story. Falconfire is known in SkyClan for being such a stark contrast to her mother. Despite being enormous, she is soft-spoken and shy, almost insecure about her differences. Leopardsong is rarely not heard, and definitely keeps the chatty elder stereotype alive and well. The other elders have joked that now that she's gotten older, her name should be changed to Leopardcroak, but Leopardsong says she'll scratch Thawstar's pelt off if she tries it.

The only thing Falconfire seems to feel is important is that she found herself a mate as well, called Wolfspider, a tom who was almost as tall as Falconfire (but still not as tall as Leopardsong, which Leopardsong has always felt is an important detail to include). A dark striped tabby with fur so dark gray that his black stripes were almost impossible to see, Wolfspider was a strong warrior, and much like Falconfire, he was a cat of few words. Both were quiet, spoke almost in whispers to each other, and no one in the clan even knew they were mates for a while, until Leopardsong realized and then everyone knew. Jumpingpaw sort of remembers his face. Or... she feels like she does. Falconfire says he's watching over her from StarClan, and Jumpingpaw sometimes sits with her silent mother as the she-cat simply stares up at the starry skies.
But, before Wolfspider died, her and Falconfire had their only litter of kits. Just like Leopardsong, the litter was just one kitten. Falconfire didn't know what to name her at first, and she and Wolfspider agreed that they would get to know their daughter a little first, and come up with a name after. They joked that as long as they had a name by her apprentice ceremony, that was good enough. And it did take them a few moons to come up with a name, but as soon as their kit could walk, she could jump, and she loved running around and jumping high after any bugs that had crept into the nursery, or even her mother's tail, if she flicked it around too much. Wolfspider suggested Jumpingkit--almost as a joke, and Falconfire had laughed softly at it, but in the end, it was the name that stuck.
Because of the problems with the territory--with the illness that had started in SkyClan (and luckily missed Jumpingpaw's family) and the drought and famine now everywhere else, Jumpingkit was not even in the nursery for a moon. She wasn't even named before the clans abandoned their territory. For the beginning of the journey, Jumpingkit's sleeping form was traded between the jaws of Wolfspider, Falconfire, Leopardsong, and Kestrelsnap, all four working hard to protect their little one. She learned to walk and jump early, but still spent most of her time being carried around for her first few moons. When Wolfspider died--an argument with a RiverClan cat that had made them hot under the ears, and although the fight probably wasn't worth it, the two had fought, lost their footing, and tumbled down a cliff together--then Falconfire and Leopardsong did most of the carrying, Kestrelsnap not quite strong enough to carry the large kitten for quite as long.
Once Jumpingkit grew old enough to really manage traveling on her own, she spent a lot of time with cats her own age. Although Thawslip advised SkyClan cats to stay with other SkyClan cats, Jumpingkit didn't really like the other kit that often needed to drink Falconfire's milk, Aspenkit--they wanted to spend time with kits who wanted to have more fun! And being born only a week before the journey meant that Jumpingkit really didn't understand the difference between clans, outside of what Leopardsong told in her stories. Cats didn't really smell different anymore, after moons of traveling together. What difference was a kit in another clan to a kit in SkyClan? And Jumpingkit made friends easily, happy to befriend everyone around her age--and despite being in different clans, her family was happy too, not wanting Wolfspider's death to be carried too heavily on her young shoulders.
Jumpingkit didn't really understand the relief of finding new territory to finally settle down in. She was used to waking up, walking all day, and stopping to sleep in a new place every night. Even if it was different to the other clancats, it was completely normal for her--and she was used to being one big clan, instead of five divided ones. She was glad for the new territory for her family; Kestrelsnap seemed to really be struggling by the time they reached the end of it, and even Leopardsong was losing her speed. Falconfire was always quiet, but she was even moreso after Wolfspider's death. Kestrelsnap said the new territory would help her, and so Jumpingkit supposed it was good.
Although she missed being one united clan, she was also excited for the next phase of her life, too. At six moons, she became an apprentice when the clans finally settled into their new territory, and she was eager to learn, both about warrior things, and clan-life as a whole.
About
Personality:
[ + dynamic | loyal | intelligent ]
[ = adventurous | idealistic | curious ]
[ - careless | gullible | impatient ]
dynamic :: Jumpingpaw is extremely high energy, and rarely tired or uninterested in anything. She's full of ideas, though they aren't always good ones.
loyal :: Admmittedly, Jumpingpaw doesn't fully respect the warrior code, due to growing up in, essentially, one nomadic clan. Though not necessarily inherently loyal to SkyClan, those who have earned her loyalty will find she is fiercely loyal, and it is a loyalty that requires tempering.
intelligent :: Although Jumpingpaw can come off somewhat ditzy and hare-brained, she is genuinely very intelligent. She learns and understands things very quickly.
adventurous :: Jumpingpaw doesn't really think anything is impossible, and she loves exploring and seeing what new things she can discover. Unfortunately, it can lead to her being labeled as a bit of a troublemaker, but she never means to do anything wrong.
idealistic :: Growing up exclusively during the journey, Jumpingpaw doesn't really understand war or conflict or border tensions, and she doesn't really understand why everyone can't just be friends. Wolfspider's death is confusing to her, as well. Her idealistic ideas about the clans means she won't always agree to what her clan is doing without questioning it, but hoping for the best and striving to find a better solution is certainly not a bad thing.
curious :: Jumpingpaw doesn't always respect people's privacy, and can be somewhat annoying about asking questions. She always wants to know why, and since there are a lot of things she doesn't completely understand, she'll always be eager to hunt for the answer.
careless :: Jumpingpaw is too young to remember the plague, drought, and famine of the lakes, and even if the journey was hard, it was the life she grew up with. She doesn't really understand hardships, and she lives her life without too much worry. She could be the type to hunt prey for fun instead of for necessity if the opportunity presented itself.
gullible :: Jumpingpaw is very trusting--again, an effect of growing up with the other four clans as allies. Although it could be as harmless as a prank, the right cat (or the wrong one, really) could likely manipulate her into something dangerous.
impatient :: Some things are too good to wait for! For Jumpingpaw, most things are too good to wait for. She really struggles with patience, and it can make her come off not just as impatient, but also foolish or greedy.
Likes: cuddles, making friends with everyone, competing to catch the biggest/strongest bird, scaling cliffs, showing off her jumping skills, leopardsong's stories
Dislikes: staying in one place for too long, the taste of fish and the way their scales feel against her lips, grumpy cats
Other Information:
- She has a right-side snaggletooth that she's slightly embarrassed about, but Falconfire says that Wolfspider had a snaggletooth too, and she always thought it was very handsome. Jumpingkit doesn't know if anyone will think her snaggletooth is handsome, but she likes having something in common with her father.

Thawstar | BARACATT | Leader
"Thawstar always seems like she's in such a bad mood! Has anyone ever seen her smile?"
Palethroat | TailRotor | Deputy
"I really like Palethroat. He always has stories to tell, and when Leopardsong is tired sometimes he's the best option! Plus, now he's deputy; how cool is that?"
Witherwing | Aecava | Medicine cat
"Witherwing isn't really someone I want to spend much time with... they seem like they're usually in a bad mood and anyway, who wants to visit the medicine cat den? Not me..."
Nightpaw | RANPl | Medicine cat apprentice
"Nightpaw just joined us recently, but I like her, even though she's a medicine cat. She didn't come from the clans, which seems so cool! I bet she has so many stories..."
Falconfire | NPC | Mother, warrior
"My mom has always been pretty quiet, but she hardly ever talks now... I feel lucky if I can get her to whisper a little story to me while we look up at the stars. I know she misses Wolfspider... I wish I remembered him well enough to comfort her, but... I don't..."
Leopardsong | NPC | Grandmother, elder
"My grandma is my hero! Leopardsong has done so much in her life and she has so many stories! She's so big and strong and cool! I only hope I can be as amazing as she is when I'm her age! I really look up to her..."
Kestrelsnap | NPC | Grandfather, elder
"My grandpa is so funny! He doesn't talk as much as Leopardsong, but I don't think anyone in the five clans does. When he does speak, it's usually funny quips though! Plus, it's nice to see how much they still love each other after all this time, even if he does look so tiny next to her.."
Aspenpaw | me! | Clanmate, fellow apprentice
"They shared the nursery with me and some other kits. Falconfire took care of them but they were never really part of the family. I don't hate Aspenpaw or anything but... they seem so boring and serious..."
Roleplay
Bennet couldn't die--he couldn't die here, by Nicchia's hand or Ernest's or Aurelius', because his purpose was far from over. He'd accomplished a lot, but not enough, no where near enough, and he couldn't let Nicchia snuff him out so easily like this. So no matter how many times he felt the burn of silver pierce his skin--no matter how many bullets Ernest shot him with, and no matter how much blood he knew he was losing that he couldn't replenish, he couldn't lose. He couldn't die. Despite his injured, bleeding hand and his even more freshly injured shoulder, he fought against her as best as he could, nails digging into her skin and doing the best that he could to try and strangle her, even just enough to get her to loosen his grip. He didn't care about killing her now; he just wanted to get far enough away to flee until he was strong enough to get rid of her permanently. If he could just get her off of him, if he could just get her to loosen her grip for a second --
He didn't have the air to hiss as his hands were tugged away from Nicchia's neck, realizing after a second it was Aurelius pulling them away; the hands were too soft and delicate to be Ernest's and Nicchia were very clearly still pushing him down under the water. He couldn't get Nicchia off of him if Aurelius had his hands, so he turned his struggled on Aurelius instead, scratching at the man's chest and neck to try and get him to stop. Despite the water, he could still hear Aurelius speak--muffled, but clear enough to understand.
"Stop struggling."
Bennet could feel the fight starting to leave him at those words; he didn't know if it was Aurelius' influence, or his body starting to give out. Either way, his lungs were burning and it was harder to fight Nicchia's strength. He didn't want to die, he was scared to die--and he stopped scratching at Aurelius' neck, letting the man's hand's pull his away, and instead curling his fingers around his. He was scared, and maybe Aurelius wouldn't have wanted to give him comfort, but Bennet was still selfish, and he wanted it. He weakly squeezed his hands, taking some small comfort as Aurelius squeezed them back. He could still hear him faintly, trying to relax and listen to him.
"Quies."
By the time Nicchia pulled him out of the water again, he didn't have the strength to cough up the water in his lungs. His head was spinning from lack of oxygen--her words were somewhat lost on him. It was hard to listen to them, and the moments he managed to process were literally hard to hear. He didn't want what she was saying to be true; he didn't want to die forgotten. He didn't want his life to be meaningless. He didn't want to be erased from history. More than anything, he didn't want Aurelius to be the one helping her kill him. He didn't want Aurelius to hate him the way Nicchia hated him, but there was no strength left to speak to him and no time left to fix it. His lips shook as he tried to speak, but he couldn't even breathe, head starting to get too foggy to hear the end of what she was saying.
But Aurelius was still squeezing his hands, and that was about all he could process anymore.
A last comfort.
