Description Location: Louisville, Kentucky-Normandy, France- Newmarket, England.
Owners: Mr. Frédéric Beauchamp & Lord Maverick Pennant
History: Beauchamp was first started in 1862 by Mr. Beauchamp's great-great grandfather, Sébastien. It was originally built in Normandy, France over thousands of acres of pristine rolling grassland. The first stallions to stand at Beauchamp in it's earlier years included such greats as Aigle de diffusion, Ozark, Cri de bataille and Point d'or. With such rich blueblood stallions Beauchamp was soon a farm to be reckoned with. Stallions from England and various other countries soon joined Beauchamp's ranks at the turn of the century. These stallions included King Ainsley, Cromwell, St. Winchcombe, and Sunny Ridge. Their bloodlines soon graced much of France's Thoroughbred stock.
But when the farm fell on hard times in the 1930's, most stock was sold in order to keep the farm. After over thirty years of vacancy Mr. Frédéric Beauchamp, as a young lad at only age 21, took it upon himself to rebuild the destroyed empire. Seeing the vast potential the farm had, he began to revive the lone farm. Slowly, under his tender care, the farm began to blossom into it's former glory. Soon the world took notice once again of this old farm. In 1978 a second Beauchamp location was opened in Newmarket, England. Stallions from the UK location such as Minnowcatcher, sired such champions as the 1987 Arc winner Mudskipper. Such success was enjoyed only on a European scale until 1991.
Mr.Beauchamp was approached by a well know English horse owner who was greatly interested in a piece of the Beauchamp empire. He proposed a deal to Mr.Beauchamp that would help him expand his farm to an even larger scale. The man's offer was tempting but to give up a majority interest in his UK location was unthinkable for Beauchamp. The man persisted with his offers and even agreed to have an equal partnership instead in the UK location and the U.S. location.  Mr.Beauchamp finally agreed and the search for a farm location in America began.
Thirteen years later all the land necessary to build the U.S. Beauchamp was acquired. It took another three years to finish the construction itself. The result was the largest Beauchamp location so far. In November of 2008 the U.S. Beauchamp opend to much fanfare. In the first breeding season four stallions stood at stud. Now ten years later that number has greatly increased to eight stallions standing at the U.S. location, along with seven stallions in the UK and ten in France. Some stallions stand at more than one location.
