Description
The Airakus Class Heavy Cruiser had a long and strenuous refitting process. Problems with energy delegation arose, and other smaller ship classes such as the Vakun Class received more attention in the modernization projects. However, the strong backbone of the Alfurian Airnavy has at last been given class-wide refits.Forward acceleration was increased, despite vastly increased tonnage. This was done through the addition of more numerous and more modern sovex turbines. However the already mediocre maneuverability of the ship was decreased some even more. This was not a concern, as opposed to smaller Alfurian cruisers, ships of this class do not focus on movement as much as strong armor and firepower.
Shielding was greatly modernized and strengthened. Heavy and light projectors/shield generators overlap to create very strong shield strength, especially from the front and front-lower hull.
As for firepower, the Airakus is a fearsome and terrifying enemy, even when alone and escorted. Trying to overwhelm even a single Airakus cruiser with swarm units is by far one of the least effective ways of destroying the vessel. The anti-aircraft and secondary weapons of the ship type are disgustingly effective, versatile, and in high numbers. Gatling flak, rapid fire quad flak, secondary gun turrets, tertiary gun turrets, multipurpose missile systems (both long and close range), torpedo tubes, the projector systems, and the main guns allow these vessels to unleash firepower that would out compete most equivalent classes.
It is also to be of note that the infantry groups stationed upon these vessels have voiced a growing demand for Proxian Polms.
