Description
Timeline: Late Pre-Ages --- CurrentWims are a large Supergroup of invertebrates consisting of 17 Groups, the group has adapted to various ecologies from the marine to the soil to the overground to the volcanoes themselves.
Wims are the oldest of Unikaria's creatures, originating in the late Pre-Ages roughly 788mya, although most of the ancient lineages died out by the tail end of the Lyfian Era, a couple of groups have survived since that period namely the Accursed and Ancient Groups. Wims are completely soft bodied minus a few hard growths some groups and species show that are of a hardened silk substance.
Wims began to reach larger sizes during the Lyfian Era to compete for food with the newer Supergroups that emerged since the Pre-Ages.
History
-------
Evolving roughly 788mya they were the sole multicellular life on Unikaria for many millions of years until the Amorphians evolved just before the end of the Pre-Ages which brought great competition to the wims for the first time.
This was followed the Lyfian Life Explosion where live exploded into numerous supergroups, most of which are now extinct, Wims became prey to the first Arachnids, Crustaceans, Baktra and very many now gone Supergroups and Groups.
When the Lyfian mass-extinction hit Unikaria the wims where hit hard killing off the vast majority of the Groups and Subgroups among all of the Wims as the undersea volcanoes flooded the sea floors first destroying much of their kinds. however this extinction kickstarted the race for land and Wims were some of the first on land, evolving a Transitional Amphibian like stage in-between that still remains to this day.
When Wims made land Supergroups like the Protoss and Amphibians existed as well as Fish and the descendants of their old predators giving Wims more competition however on land Wims could last longer than both Protoss and Amphibians on land allowing them to move deeper in land where they met Arachnids, the first true land creatures, where they would hunt and eat each other.
Little is known of Wims during the Worrian although it is generally believed they were struggling to recover from the previous Mass Extinction.
Bugzerian Era was hard on the Wims too, as the shifting contientents and the shifting of Lumbria caused mass terrestrial and oceanic changes to the sensitive wims habitats however the wims survived the formation of the supercontinent. Wims benefited from the newly formed coral reefs of the Ceruvian, giving the wims a hunting ground and many hiding places, however this all came tumbling down 61mya when the last great ice age occured freezing a lot of land and sending the reef into a deep decline and driving several Supergroups to extinction a lot of which the Sea and Land Wims alike depended on to survive. when the Bugzerian Era and the Last Great Ice Age ended.
Wims have made somewhat of a comeback during the Dejuran Era diversifying somewhat recently and appearing in new environments such as Mountains with the newest group Rock Wims and later Leaf Wims and Magma Mins.
Wims are a relic of the past but will be here in the future.
