READ ME!!!I don't think many are expecting this. It's something i was making for a client who lost interest somewhere along the line, but i liked where it was headed, so naturally i continued with the creation process.
I have to admit, i think this is my finest work to date, i don't know if many will agree, but i think it is from my personal standing. It contains a lot more detail and intricacy than my other pieces, more realism yet more fantasy. Bigger, and it's finally something i'm satisfied with.

Time taken - 80hours (spread over 1 week, this is now my most time consuming piece to date)

- why is the image this size? so you can appreciate the detail here, if i reduce it, it's less easy for you to appreciate the effort i put into it.

Well alyn, i was browsing through your gallery once again, and i saw this marvelous piece again, and it reminded me, that you were the sole-reason i joined deviantart.
I was at school browing for some spacestuff when i saw some of your work, which was amazing, then, on the 4th of may, i saw this piece, and it just blew me away, i immediately joined DA, and my goal has ever been the same, to become at least as great as you in space-art ^^
This image is just great, the detail on the planet and the terragen are amazing, especially the planet crashing into the bigger one is beautiful, i also love those little rivers on the land, which is still an important part of your style, the great work for tiny detail!

600 MB? From the looks of this image and the quality and effort you put into this image, you could say you're skill takes a bit of space, in all aspects. 
I also favor the landscape, because it makes me feel like I'm witnessing the event from far away, but it's close enough to capture every single detail.
I must admit alyn, you are one of the talents with galactic renders. Everything I've seen you make is awesome, and your terragen skills pwn.

I haven't seen your other works, but this is certainly fine... I fail to see how this hasn't gotten a DD yet. The entore picture is absolutely majestic... especially the strands of energy in the middle of the canvas (it also helps that I'm listening to the Urusei Yatsura: Beautiful Dreamer soundtrack

Uh... wow.
Absolutely amazing.
Some things to note:
I love the lights on the smaller of the two colliding (sp?). There appear to be lights on the southern continent which makes it feel inhabited, causing a touch of real. I like that.
I also like that you've included so much "empty" space. It really brings the feeling that these are really two planets. A lot of space collide pieces fill the whole canvas up with planets and such. While it makes it a little more to look at it there is a lack in the artistry and a loss of a realism.
The closest planet (?) doesn't appear to have any sort of atmosphere yet there are forests and waterfalls on it...
The coloring is really cool. I like yellow of the flare (?) in the upper-center. It gives us something to look at while still saying that it's more or less empty space.
