Not much to say on this one. It's mood setting, really, but it does manage to establish that sense of isolation that the various Metroid games are known for.
The revelation of Phazon is a nice bit of foreshadowing, and Samus in the corner is sort of heartbreaking. We know how far she is from the surface, but it's unlikely that she does. Weaponless, powerless, what happens to her next...?
