Found a screengrab of the absolutely heartbreaking, exquisite scene where Erik sits there weeping at his boyhood-carved toy monkey music box, sorta a symbol of both his survival and his solitude, at the very end of the Webber Phantom of the Opera film/musical adaptation.

Decided, subsequently, that Erik's loneliness and private moment of vulnerability had to be made into a drawing(in this very scene he turns to an unrequited lover, Christine Daee--many reasons why unrequited, go read the book or see the musical if you're not familiar with it--and tells her "Christine, I love you" followed shortly by "only you can make my song take flight," both of which she, with her own mixed feelings, is forced to ignore). So I applied my impressionistic or maybe it's expressionistic crosshatching coloring to his face and decided to eventually finish it. Eventually. Blegh school lol.

Soooo many songs suit this scene aside those in the actual musical. One that has always jumped out at me is My Immortal by Evanescence:
"I'm so tired of being here
Suppressed by all my childish fears

These wounds won't seem to heal
