Description
I'd like to introduce you all to my first Pathfinder character: Kalyra Grith. She's a half-elf monk, and generally a bumbling, awkward mess who somehow manages to be simultaneously very naive and very jaded. She's also living proof that profession is the most useless class skill if you want to play a character of humble origins--seriously, what the actual hell am I supposed to do with *farming* on a fantastical adventure full of monsters and peril? Our cleric can magically feed 3 people each day, the party has enough gold to afford regulars feasts, and it's not like we stand still long enough for her to cultivate so much as a tiny garden! Am I suppose to try and bribe the town guards with advice on growing carrots? Inform the goblins that raiding the same village time and time again is unsustainable? I can't even take care of the party's oxen because Kalyra doesn't have Handle Animal, and even if she did, charisma is her dump stat!Mini rant on a matter that's only an issue because of a personal choice regarding her backstory aside...
Unlike most of her companions, Kalyra is a lost soul. She has no dreams of grandeur or wealth, and frankly, little desire to be a hero, nor does she have any great demon to haunt her. She is simply left wandering, restless, alone, and unsure of who she is. Even the simple satisfaction of hard that sustained her through her childhood is gone, and without her mentor to guide her towards mental and physical mastery, she's left with nothing to do but take odd jobs under the shadow of his death. While she has found some kinship in the company of the people who rescued her from the clutches of goblins, she's still not sure who she wants to be. Kalyra knows only that she owes a debt, and if there is one thing undeniable about Kalyra, it is that she will stop at nothing to repay her dues. Eye for an eye, respect for respect.
Okay wow that got long. Guess I got carried away.
