Description I hadn't named this piece until this upload. I figure "ownership" is a good name. Representing taking responsibility for becoming the person that you want to be. This was done as a cover for my dad's book.

There can be a number of things standing between you and your goals. When my dad asked me to create something that represented overcoming fears I wanted to say as much with the picture as I could. So rather than depicting fear as some scary image I chose the symbol for an electrical resistor. This opens up the door to a number of other useful interpretations as well. For example, a resistor may not necessarily prevent the path from being achieved but it can significantly slow the progress. I think the most important part of the message to get across is that whatever happens to be standing between you and your desires; be it a deep seeded phobia or a lack of knowledge as to how to achieve your goal, you have the power to overcome that obstacle. It's never too late to break out of old habits and challenge yourself to seek your desires. Sometimes, the way we think about things is operating on a level so deep that without resolving internal conflicts we may be setting ourselves up for failure, and so changing the way we think in order to benefit our lives and/or the lives of those around us can range from something simple to something that may take a bit more work.

The symbols along the upper part of the picture are assumed to represent goals, but some of them are faded as if to suggest that too much resistance stands between it and the individual. We can also think of these goals/achievements as something the individual may not even be considering as a potential pathway. When you consider what you want out of life, it may be that an experience or form of knowledge that has not yet crossed your path has the potential to create an entirely new set of desires within you. Our world is filled with endless possibilities as to what we can do and be. The cutting edge of innovative thought can be both terrifying and exhilarating. Will you courageously follow your desires? Explore the possibilities that you may not yet even know about?
