Description I've been super busy with starting my new full time job as the receptionist at a veterinary clinic. I've been there for a month now (I can't believe it's gone by that fast) and I'm so enjoying it there! I'm learning so much and everyone that I work with is amazing!

Our clinic specializes in small animal such as dogs and cats, pocket pets like rats, rabbits and guinea pigs, exotics like snakes and lizards and also treats wildlife that the public and the SPCA bring us. I am a graduate of the only wildlife rehabilitation program in my province and I was looking forward to baby season when we would start getting orphaned wildlife.

Well, its started! So far at the clinic we've have a skunk, three red tailed hawks, three or four woodpeckers, a robin, cedar waxwing, blanding's turtle, garter snake as well as several baby cottontail rabbits and grey squirrels. The staff at the clinic takes on each case as their own, taking them home after hours to feed them through the night and when they are old enough they will be released in our area. We also take care of orphaned deer fawns but we haven't gotten one yet this season but it's only a matter of time.

These were my two babies. There was a bad freezing rain storm recently in our area and their tree blew down and their nest was destroyed. They were brought to our clinic and I took them on as mine. I brought them home and my family nicknamed them 'Chip' and 'Dale' because we markered their ears with black and red marker to keep them apart (just as Disney's Chip and Dale have red and black noses).

They are doing well so far, their eyes are open now (in this picture they are about 3 weeks old). When they get older and weaned off formula they will be housed in a pen when other infants we have that are around their age so they learn how to be a squirrel and then they will be released in mid summer.

If you ever come across any infant wildlife, call your local animal control right away. Do not take them thinking you are saving them, in most cases the mother isn't too far away and you are infact kidnapping them. Rehabilitators do the best they can to help little ones but the only one who can really take care of them properly is their mother.
