Following on from the commission I worked on for the Urantia Foundation back in 2002, the image is a much more detailed overview that combines all the info shown in those four images into a map of the “Master Universe”.

Effectively this maps illustrates how the Urantia Book describes the organisation of the entire creation in top and side profile, with some other info about worlds.

This piece took quite a long time to complete, not to mention the extended period of time where I intended to work on it, but was a little unsure of the correct distances and geographical positions of things. I relied heavily with the online resources to get these numbers and details right, so thank you to everybody who contributes to these!

The image itself is enormous:

FInal dimensions 21000 pixels wide (shown here at 8,4%!)
All text is vector so it can be translated or amended
It is intended to be printed potentially *very large* and to visualise some of the more complex concepts in the book.

I think the image took about 200 hours of organising, painting and research – using about 4GB of memory while I painted and the saved files are 400MB in size.

I am not sure what is going to be done about prints of this piece – so many people contact me about the original 4 (which have still to be released by the UF as prints) – I may organise some limited edition canvas runs of this piece in the near future.

Book info is here for those interested:

So...massive...and...shiny...
This is really informative. It would be even more so if I actually read the Urantia Book, but I have heard of it, so this will give me a little more incentive to check it out!

Very beautifully done! I have a ton of wallpapers of galaxies and am painting one on my ceiling in glow-in-the-dark paint~ they're really pretty and awesome. x3

Though it would be cooler if this was a map of the real universe. Of course, the real universe is much messier and the more you zoom out from things, the less geometrical and more chaotic they become. xP

What I don't like about that site you posted is that they are speaking as if their book is presenting a truth. Here I was looking forwards to an awesome sci-fi novel, and then it's seeing a bunch of brainwashing again. If it was me, I'd refuse to let them commission me for such ugly purposes.

Well, depressing as that is, your work is still very beautiful. n-n

Thanks for the kind words about the piece.

Would it put your mind at ease and reduce your depression a little if I told you I did not receive payment for this or the other pieces, but instead chose to create them as free commissions because I find the concepts beautiful? And if you knew me persoanlly you would see I am not a person to be brainwashed by anything.

You are welcome, and yea, it definitely does make me feel better about it! Thanks for replying with this. n-n Yeah, I understand why you'd want to draw this. It IS very beautiful. xD <33

However, it's the amount of people who look at it and think that it's real who scare me. o-o;; Saying in the comments that it is not the real universe would be more supportive to scientific literacy and education around the world, and would cause people who notice the chance for misinformation to feel less bothered by it. xD

Also, thanks for the watch <3

While I understand you postulation I think it is important to not narrow our view too much. I am not saying I know anything specific whatsoever, but who is to say what is described it is not a real representation? I have reads many, many scientific journals and articles about space, the creation of the Universe and reality – which at the time of reading I readily believed. However these theories are very often proved incorrect, superseded, over thrown or just plain forgotten as science advances beyond the vision portrayed in these writings and studies. What I suppose I am saying is I behold the Universe, reality and the very reason there is anything at all in creation with an open mind and I do not think anybody on this planet can assume to know one way or the other about the facts of our existence with the meagre facts at our disposal.

Cutting edge science has changed it’s mind about the Universe over and over in the last 20 years (example; the slow but inevitable erosion of the “Big Bang Theory” – science is just waiting for a better answer before it can stop using it altogether. Because it simply does not work; Did you know it they now believe it would take *at least 10 times* the currently believed age of the Universe for the material in it to have coalesce into the galaxies that we can see out there in the sky?)

I find science fascinating, inspiring, but I do not rely on it, science is about learning to me, much as art is to me. I see things from a different angle – a creative one, but as much as I always strive for a new and better way to visualise my ideas, science itself is fighting its way towards the truth – and I do believe we are both far, far from it currently.

Look at me rambling hehehe

Well, you'd have to understand that filtering out past mistakes and untruths to establish a more and more true perception of the universe is all part of the scientific method. The way you describe it is a common misconception for people who are unfamiliar with how science works. Reading or hearing a couple things here are there is not enough to say that you know anything; you don't understand the logical basis behind the things you know, so you can easily substitute reality for things in your imagination, like this "Master Universe".

If you wish to see more of the real universe, observe how millions of galaxies are within our ability to percieve: [link] Also, observing the radiation, light, energy etc. from these galaxies will show you that galaxies appear bigger or smaller than each other because they are FARTHER AWAY. Also, from the scales and distances you drew your fictional galaxies in, we would be able to see them if they were real. If you begin to try to explain this concept that you so like, you would have to resort to "it's magic!" for just about everything. Of course, there are many elaborate, vague ways of saying this, such as "While I understand you postulation I think it is important to not narrow our view too much."

Besides, the same physics apply behind the structures we find on Earth as well as in space. A lot of these shiny, flower-like structure in your piece are absolutely impossible. Just because you're able to come up with something, it does not make it real.

It's a very pretty piece. I'd never heard of this Urantia thing, so I looked it up, it's hilarious. I initially thought it was a kind of game like dungeons and dragons but people actually take it seriously? Anyway, the comedy made my day. Again, a pretty piece, well done.

Or this: [link] <-Every cylinder is at a different scale. :3 National Geographic could have made it easier to read though. xD;; But ya, you can see that the real universe doesn't have much of a sense of geometry. :3
