Happy new year guys! First piece of 2018! It's about a sith apprentice who's taking over vader lead, in a parralel star wars univers.I'm trying to improve my workflow lately by taking less time in fine-tuning 3D details and putting more time in overpainting. Cheers!

OK, this, right here...this is yet another feminism-related issue.
"Violence is not strength, and compassion is not weakness".
In recent years, society has this twisted idea that a female character can't be a positive role model unless she's violent, angry and agressive.
They look at Imperator Furiosa or Hit Girl and say, "that's how it's done".
The cheer when Rey turns to the dark side.
Kindness, compassion and honor are a lot more valuable values for little girls that agression or cruelty.
The reasons I think the Crystal Gems are great female characters is because they embody kindness and honor. They are friendly and generous and refuse to dishonor themselves.
Same thing with Mabel Pines. She is kind, compassionate and generous.
And still, not once are Mabel or the Crystal Gems portrayed as weak or helpless.
So no, I don't think a Sith Rey is "empowering". Quite the contrary, in fact.

I kind of see some of that around the comments here and I'm not too familiar with the other characters you've mentioned. But personally, rather than making it just a feminism issue; I think there are a lot of people who don't necessarily dislike Rey being a kind person, but dislike that she hasn't had much character development or really much of a character arc yet and her turning to the dark side would provide that. I don't necessarily think that something that extreme is needed, but she hasn't really been that fleshed out as a character and I think people are eager for anything that would potentially give her that.
