A common and well-known inhabitant of tropical oceans, the Moorish Idol (Zanclus cornutus) is the only extant member of its family, the Zanclidae, which included members that lived during the Eocene. They are similar in appearance to some species of butterfly fish. While common in the wild, Moorish Idols are tricky to adjust to captivity, in part due to their feeding habits.
