Description

Hilda groaned. There was much she needed to do today, far too many tasks for her liking. She could certainly do without the sudden dizziness she felt. She tried to ignore it, pushing on as she made her way towards her next task.

Am I coming down with something? Ugh, not now! While she would have once relished the opportunity to slack off, too much was riding on her now. I have to... Huh?!

Sometimes, the monastery seemed like it was made for giants. Huge doors, huge hallways... It made Hilda feel like she was small. Though there was something different about it right now. Everything around her was large, somehow appearing to be even bigger than usual.

Suddenly, she was falling. Or at least it felt like she was, hurtling towards the ground. Yet she could still feel the ground beneath her feet. Disoriented, she stumbled, tripping and toppling over. Landing on her back, she was left staring up at the sky above.

What the... Am I still in the monastery? She wondered, surveying unfamiliar scenery. Or am I dreaming?

"It actually worked!" A booming voice sounded out. Hilda felt tremors through the ground, strong enough to shake her body. She quickly sat up, moving to stand, but stopped. For she was face-to-face with a colossal pair of boots.

She had never seen anything so big. Her mouth hung wide open with shock as she looked upward into the sky. High above was the face of her leader, grinning down at her. Never mind a dream- this was more like the stuff of nightmares.

"CLAUDE?! How did you get so big?" She near screamed.

"Heh, I'm not the big one." He said, not even attempting to hide his smile. "You've ended up teeny tiny, Hilda!"

"What?!" There was no way his words were true. Yet they made a strange sort of sense. Not just Claude, but everything around her was bigger. So wouldn't it be simpler to say she had shrunk?

"Here, let me take a closer look at you!" A huge, gloved hand descended, blotting out the sun. Hilda shuffled away, but she was easily caught. Pinched between a massive finger and thumb, she screamed as she was lifted high into the air. She was brought unbearably close to Claude's huge face. Hilda kicked and screamed, trying to free herself.

"Hey, settle down!" Claude said. "Don't make me drop you!"

"Claude! You... Hold on. You said something worked? Did you do this to me?!" Her anger returned as quickly as it had subsided.

"I slipped a small something into the tea you had earlier. A clear, odorless drug with a little effect." Claude told her. "Pretty cool, right?"

"You... You shrunk me?!" Hilda grit her teeth, seething.

"I sure did! Certainly took a while, though." Claude said. "You drank that tea half an hour ago, I've had to follow you around since."

Hilda did have a strange sense of being watched. She never would have imagined that it was her own leader, having spiked her tea in order to shrink her!

"But why? Why did you do this to me?" Hilda asked, her tiny legs cycling in the air.

"I wanted to know if it worked, obviously." Claude replied. "And why not you? I could tell it wasn't harmful."

"Not harmful? Just look at how small it made me!" the shrunken Hilda argued.

"Relax, it'll wear off. Probably. But just think of what we could do with this!" He said. "Our enemies won't be so dangerous if we use this on them!"

Hilda sighed. Claude had experimented with poisons and the like before, but nothing like this! She wasn't sure if she should be more annoyed, or afraid.

"Anyway, I'll take you inside." Claude said. "You were kind enough to be my little test subject. Least I can do is keep an eye on you until you're back to normal, right?"

"It's not like I have any say in this." Hilda said, looking at the two massive digits gripping either side of her body. "Just don't drop me, OK? And this is the last time you test one of your schemes on me!"
