When I actually looked these guys up, I was definitely wondering why they looked so much like crocs. Now I’m thinking if crocs took their design from the phytosaurs?

The IMAX film Dinosaurs Alive actually first exposed me to the phytosaurs, namely the largest species Redondasaurus, but then I got exposed to Rutiodon in When Dinosaurs Roamed America. And they seemed to be as diverse in forms as the actual crocodyliforms (such as modern crocodilians).
