"it can be isolating -- dark and daunting. but there is peace, too. the knowledge that you're never fully alone as life swirls and swoons all around you, in the deep."i made the sketch for this last year - and i never finished her up! i wanted to paint something for mermay this year, and the sketch called back to me. it's always fun to re-explore a sketch after a while, and see the way things change!
i had a lot of fun playing with the colors here, they're rather outside my normal schemes i think! overall, a very relaxing piece to paint. it's always a joy to paint new mermaids!
