Godzilla: Long ago, before the dinosaurs, Gojiradons emerged. They started out small. No bigger than a cat, but as they grew more successful and diverse, so did their size. Gojiradons originated from the early Permian period. They outlived many other species of the time and co-existed with the dinosaurs that showed up later. His kind have survived the many extinction events through history. It wasn’t until the arrival of humans and their food supplies being over-fished that they started to suffer and dwindle in their population. Only one member of the surviving lineage is alive today - Godzilla.

Anguirus: Anguirus, like Godzilla is currently the only known surviving member of his species present in the modern day. His ancestors were a species of crocodilian that developed a shell on their backs, (whether he is a descendant of Armadillosuchus, a relative, or something else entirely is still in debate amongst the scientific community) most likely to act as protection from other super species.

Rodan: He is one of the super species that appeared much later in time, around the late Cretaceous. His set of wings and the bird-like appearance have us believe that he is a descendant, relative or separately evolved from the Yi Qi found in China. Rodans have lived in cave ecosystems that run deep in the earth’s crust. Which would explain why they’re so small compared to other kaiju. It is unknown how many individuals there are in the world, but one individual remains trapped amongst the surface dwellers.

Mothra: Out of the other kaiju, Mothra is seen as a benevolent immortal being: a goddess, by many ancient civilizations not only in China, but around the world. Mothra’s species is far more ancient, even more so than Godzilla’s. This is because they appeared during the Carboniferous era, when the earth was ruled by insects. As the earth started to have less and less oxygen, the giant insects retreated underground. There, oxygen rich airpockets and plentiful amounts of food is what allowed them to survive and thrive - coming into competition with the Rodans later. As time passed, Mothras developed a method of coping with the lower amounts of oxygen by chewing up the oxygen rich vegetation and letting it stew inside their digestive systems. This also acts as an internal air bladder that gives them flight. Like the Gojiradons, Mothras have unintentionally protected the earth from Ghidorah’s wrath. Back then, her kind were plentiful, but because of King Ghidorah they are now all but extinct. This is because of their slow reproduction as they only have one or two eggs in their lifetime before dying.

King Kong: On the far off island where time forever stopped and animals long thought extinct or of myth lived in the present day, this place being called: Skull Island. Kong, a giant species of ape, being one of them. In 1933, an journey to Skull Island ended with the capture of Kong, the last of his kind, and bringing him to civilization. Kong escaped and rampaged through New York. He was shot down from the top of the Empire State Building, ending his killing spree. The lifeless body was taken and put into storage by the military. When WWII happened, the whole Kong incident was forgotten due to poor documentation of the event and many were more concerned of the threat of a bomb being dropped outside their doorstep. It wasn’t until the 1950’s that Godzilla, king of the monsters, made his presence known to the world. Not long after, more kaiju started showing up. Worried that one of these creatures, specifically Godzilla, will show up and attack. That was when a project titled: Kong Vs. Godzilla, was started.
