Beware the seas landlubbers, it's the Ghost Of Redbeard:

- He was but a young lad when he began his life of piracy, slowly making his way up the hierarchy ladder until he reached the status of captain. Captain Redbeard, named for his blood-red beard, was a notorious pirate that terrorized the waters of the Caribbean Sea in the late 1600s to the early 1700s, pillaging many merchant and slave ships and seaside colonies and villages of their valuables. His crew was very diverse as many folk saw the allure of a life in piracy and sought out Redbeard to join his crew due to his growing success. As time passed, the number of his crew continued to grow at such a rate that he needed more ships to compensate. Eventually he had a whole fleet of ships under his command. This was seen as a problem for the British and Spanish empire. Redbeard was unchallenged it seemed, and no one dared to mess w/ him or any of his crew. By the pirate captain’s side was an equally intimidating figure known as “Old Iron Face”. But as they say, nothing lasts forever. The Royal Navy sent their finest men out to hunt down Redbeard and put an end to his piracy by any means necessary. It took many weeks of searching, but eventually they found him. Many more weeks passed as one by one, both Redbeard’s and the Royal Navy’s fleet dwindled down til it was only his and their ship left. Their final confrontation w/ the Royal Navy took place on a dark night as a storm began to brew in the skies above. His ship’s supply of gunpowder was ignited and in one fiery explosion, took out the whole ship. Having nearly taken them out too. Before he went down w/ the now burning wreck of a ship, he vowed that he and his crew would return one day. Now, over hundreds of years later, his ghost has indeed returned to terrorize the waters once more. Mystery Inc, having gone to the Caribbean for a long deserved vacation, is alerted to the ghost's sudden reappearance.

A cool idea I have it that he (and his crew) leave a scorched trait of ghostly footprints that disappear once the flames go out.
