Yay! I made it! After several requests from friends, I made an eye tutorial! 8D You will have a behind-the-scenes look at how I make my eyes so shiny and animu-like. And since I only used a mouse to do this, anyone can do it! All you need is Photoshop 7.0 and a little variety. ^___^Related content

One of the first tuts I found on dA, and that was years ago, and I still draw and colors eyes like this! I found it very useful in coloring the eyes even though I don't draw them in this style (the shape anyway) and it's definitely worth looking at for any artist! Love it!

photoshop, but any image-editing program with a dodge/burn tool should also do the trick

I want to color but all I get is the color grey and no other colors

you're probably working in greyscale mode. switch to rgb by going to image>mode>rgb

Your color mode is probably gray scale. In photoshop it can be fixed in image -> color mode I think.

Gave so much more life into my characters' eyes. And I was doing realistic ones, not anime; but the whole highlighting/dodging helped out a whole lot for that, too. Thanks!
