Im going to preface this message by saying that I have supported the republicans for years now, and I am no friend of the democrats.
BUT
I will not be some tribal leming incapable of thinking different from the elites of the republican party.

the actions of republicans who have refused to support ukraine sicken me to my core. these are the same people who loudly defend kyle rittenhouse for his self defense, then claim that america shouldn't help ukraine because it would be "escalatory" and "provacative"
they then often justify this hypocisy by spouting russian propaganda.

which is funny cause the republicans also claim that china the the greatest threat to the us, and China and russia are currently allies. so the same people who say China is the worlds greatest threat, argue against undermining china's allies by using propaganda from china's allies.

or they resort to fearmongering. for example you might've heard that "we can't possibly support ukraine because russia has nukes and therefore support for ukraine could somehow theoretically turn into a nuclear sunrise over washington".

I would like to dismiss this arguement as stupider then a suitcase without a handle for a couple of reasons.
one: by that logic, north korean tanks could literally be driving throught the streets of washington dc and the response would nothing because north korea has nukes.
Two: yes russia has nukes, and yet they haven't used them after 13 months of war. despite support for ukraine from the west. considering how a year of western support hasn't started ww3, I'm at a loss to understand how abrams in donetsk would somehow convince putin to fire nukes at a nuclear superpower. if javlins blowing up tanks didn't start ww3, how are abrams piloted by ukrainians blowing up russian tanks supposed to?
Three: the US of A also has nukes. Now I know russians have historically been willing to endure suffering and sacrifice. but I don't have any sources that would suggest they are activly suicidal. and so again if abrams suddenly appear in bakhmut then why would the russians decide to add a nuclear war to their list of troubles. that would be like rear-ending a car and deciding the solution to the problem is suicide bombing the car in front of them.
Im not saying the US should be dropping the 82nd airbourne into moscow. russia has nukes and the threat should be taken seriously, but doing nothing the face of a threat is how you get Uvalde.

many of other republican anti-ukraine arguements are just nonsense. such as justifing Russias invasion by saying that there are russians living in ukraine and therefore ukraine should just allow the donbas to be annexed by russia. by that logic mexico has a casus belli to invade and annex texas because there are mexicans living there, and yet if that did happen I imagine republicans would have a different view of things.
Or that ukraine somehow isn't is the interests of the US.

coincidentally these people also never state what the US's interests actually are. considering how these republicans also claim china to the greatest threat to the US, and Xi and putin have declared a "no-limits friendship". you would think that blowing up russian tanks would therefore be in the US's interest, since every russian weapon destroyed in ukraine is a weapon that isn't going to help china's invasion of taiwan. but apparently not according to republicans.

again I say all this as a person who supported the republicans for years. and yet because of this I can't belive anything that comes out the republican party's mouth. since its now obvious that these republicans aren't interested in practising what they preach, instead they are simply interested in attacking biden no matter what, even if they have to throw years of their own talking points out the window. and frankly speaking I'm kind of glad that biden survived the 2022 midterms cause atleast he's actually helping ukraine. I wish he did more to help ukraine, but still better then nothing.

Why am I saying all this? above is a photo of Marinka Ukraine. it looks like something out of a post-apocalypse movie. that is the result of this war. this the reality of millions of people right now. it is indisputable that putins invasion of ukraine has brought death and destruction to ukraine on a apocalyptic scale. and for people I thought I could trust to try and justify putin's invasion and undermine ukraine is an insult to everything the republicans claim to stand for. I'm sure they'll dismiss me as "firing inside the ship" but you know what? when the ship is sailing into an iceberg at the behest of a facist, I think I'll go down in history as the guy who fired inside the ship to try and stop this madness, instead of a tribal lemming incapable of thought outside of russian propaganda.
