ballora, circus baby/calliope, and ennard are three of william's original animatronics for his side business, big top entertainment and rental. it is a warehouse that acts as a gallery of william's robots, as well as a business that allows for these animatronics to be rented out for private birthday parties, much like you'd rent a bouncy house or a magician. each of them were conceived with a certain design aspect in mind, as well as drawing on different kinds of clowns. william's business, my au's equivalent of circus baby's pizza world, is an above ground establishment here, bc tbh, i prefer it that way.

ballora, like mangle, was an experiment in fluid and realistic motion. william had been enamored with ballet growing up and always wanted to make a ballerina animatronic when he got into soft robotics, and so ballora was born. she is based off columbia from commedia del'arte and has a motherly disposition. william worked closely with his wife heather on this animatonic before his untimely disappearance.

calliope was conceived as the mascot of his enterprise. william's a big fan of circuses and wanted to own one as a child, and so he channeled the old desire of being a ring leader into calliope and bernard/toy freddy. she's playful and a little foul-mouthed, due to being modeled off of auguste clowns.

ennard was the very first animatronic william designed on his own and the first he premiered when initially touring his business. while ennard's motions and costuming were exceptional, children and parents found his face and initial lack of speech unnerving, and so william went back to the drawing board with him, before unintentionally abandoning him in favor of newer projects. ennard developed artificial intelligence due to the programming he'd been given (a programming that the toy and fun time animatronics share, since it was designed by heather) and appears to have gone missing, when in reality, he's exploring the warehouse and closely observing his creator and the other animatronics he shares the building with.

the funtime animatronics still contain child killing functions, as they did in the original game. however, william implemented these as a means of venting his frustrations about his home life and henry's apparent lack of appreciation. they were never meant to be activated, no matter the circumstances... until their ai was implemented. the ai, who was drawing in data to make a personality based on the robot's functions, caused these mechanisms to start emerging, much like it was flexing a newfound limb. one such flex from calliope's emergent personality caused the death of william's daughter elizabeth, william to lock the animatronics inside the warehouse, and afton to try and flee for the far hills.

no one knew where elizabeth went until her mother, in search of her husband, found the warehouse and ventured inside. what she saw inside calliope caused her to take alexander and move to another state, to get away from her husband.
