Before Cybertron was, Vector Sigma was....and here it is for Transformers Beyond, along with the Key to Vector Sigma and its shell program-The Oracle, which some Transformers fans remember is from Beast Wars's critically-acclaimed sequel series, Beast Machines.-
Description:
Deep within Cybertron's underworld rests a vast supercomputer that maintains the planet's vital functions and sustenance of all mechanical life. This legendary supercomputer is known as Vector Sigma.
According to Cybertronian creation myth, Primus's original creations and the precursors of the Thirteen Primes, the Covenant went to war against one of their own, Scorpius, in the process inadvertently destroying the planet's biosphere, back when Cybertron was originally a world that housed organic and technorganic life. In the end after finally defeating Scorpius, the sole survivor Primon was wounded so badly that he had to merge with Cybertron in order to survive. With the help of his creator Primus, he was then reformatted into Vector Sigma, the life-giving supercomputer that'll serve as a guide to his Cybertronian successors. Scientists and theoreticians have tried to discover the true origins and properties of Vector Sigma, but no one was able to really encounter the Master Computer itself, as the planet’s interior was ever shifting like a maze, with direct access being granted only to those it allows within its abode, the Primal Chamber. Religious outcry against tampering with Vector Sigma eventually forced the scientific castes of Cybertron to abandon their pursuit of Vector Sigma’s secrets and settle on what they could learn on the surface. During the Third Cybertronian Civil War, after the AllSpark's ejection from Cybertron, the Decepticons, especially their military operations commander and chief scientist Shockwave, have attempted to access Vector Sigma, seeking to abuse its life-giving powers to create new warriors for their armies, but the Master Computer and its guardian Alpha Trion evaded or foiled them each time.
Recent studies into Vector Sigma show that it is less like a simple computer and more like a sophisticated nerve center or brain, intuitively monitoring the needs of the planet and working to meet them. Vector Sigma was also crucial to Cybertronian life on the planet; creating new life by periodically sending out pulsewaves that interact with the power of the AllSpark, igniting new Sparks across the planet. Vector Sigma’s destruction would spell the end of Cybertron and the eventual end of life on its surface.
The Oracle:
Vector Sigma has a shell program known as "The Oracle" that can act a sort of defense system, protecting the Master Computer from anyone who tries to access except for those who have "receptive sparks". The Oracle has the ability to see far into the future and can reformat the bodies of Cybertronians into any form they choose.
The Key to Vector Sigma:
The only way to activate Vector Sigma is through using the Key of Vector Sigma, a small remote with an overdeveloped power circuit connected to Vector Sigma's life-giving powers. Possession of the Key was originally in the hands of Alpha Trion, who then gave it to Optimus Prime right before the Great Exodus 4 million years ago to serve as a memento of him and also a failsafe that can restore the power of the Creation Matrix of Leadership if anything terrible happened to it.
However, researchers have recently discovered that the Key that Optimus currently possesses is not the actual Key to Vector Sigma, but in fact, a lifelike copy created by Alpha Trion from the original device's computer code. The real Key to Vector Sigma is said to be an extension of the Cybertronian creator god Primus as it holds unfathomable power, able to create sentient Sparks, and reformat organic surfaces into the living metal that the Cybertronians and Cybertron's surface that are made of. It is also said that whoever can Vector Sigma with the original Key can control Cybertron itself. Thankfully, after the fall of the Thirteen Primes, Alpha Trion hid the original Key to Vector Sigma on a forgotten planet at the edge of the Milky Way Galaxy, where he hoped no evil force like Megatronus Prime and Liege Maximo will ever find it....
