I came across this on my Facebook page, and all I have to say it look KICKASS!!! XD

I'm pretty sure this has zero elements from Zilla. This design looks more of a combination of the Heisei and Millennium Godzilla, which is awesome, a modern look while staying true to the classic at the same time.

if i'm correct,toho is actually keeping a disturbingly close eye on this one so it won't fuck up like zilla did.honestly,zilla was cool and so was the movie but the fact they made it a mutated iguana is what sent me over the edge....

I know, Toho won't let it happen again. And I will agree that Zilla, and the Zilla '98 movie, are better off as a stand-alone monster movie, as Godzilla, we can agree it sucked. I do forgive the movie and Zilla, but I'm not forgiving TriStar, for not carrying on the original script they already had, replaced it with shit and being a 100% unfaithful to the source material, and Roland Emmerich, for being a complete asshole on the whole thing all because he doesn't like Godzilla.

roland,the director i take it,who worked on the movie,hates godzilla?wow...that's just fucking stupid.why the hell would he work on a movie starring the character he hates most?probably only to slander godzilla.

He admitted it in an interview shortly after Zilla '98 was released. He only worked on the movie for the money, that's it, TriStar was only interested in the name, not the character, that's why the movie sucked, flopped and bombed, because of the studio's, and director's, lack of interest, knowledge and respect for the Godzilla character and the franchise.

i can see why toho was pissed.the fact that their number one movie star was slandered by americans,the design of zilla was amazing,but the fact that the director hated godzilla,only did it for the money,ruined the movie that could've had potential,and made toho keep disturbingly close eye on every kaiju film.they probably expected freaking godzilla,rodan,anquirus,etc to show up in pacific rim.

These are the original ideas TriStar already had, but decided to drop it, like the big morons they are. The first link is the finished script of the original script, read it if you wish; and the other one is a illustrated novel (comic book) of what TriStar's Godzilla was going to look like, but never came to be. This is why I'll never forgive both TriStar and Emmerich, because instead of carrying on with what they had, they decided to replace the cinematic goldmine they had for a garbage can filled with

I think that the skin is similar to Zilla's, but that's because of the creature in itself, it's an amphibious Archosaur so it has dinosaurian skin, but he has the deformed scales like the classic Godzilla.

Keep in mind, this new design heavily relied on to the original designs only, there's zero elements from TriStar's.

So far Legendary has been keeping their promise, and the movie is not only being closely supervised by Toho this time, but directed by a Godzilla fan, has an A+ cast, great composer, the best special effects team out there, so yeah, I don't see why not.
